I just got an email from Wesley Clark
...or, more specifically, from the Clark campaign:

===

February 18, 2004

Dear William,

I can't thank you enough for all the support you've shown my family and me over the past 5 months, and especially in the last week since my decision to leave the presidential race. Your emails, letters, and phone calls have meant a lot to Gert and me.

Right now, we're looking forward to a little time off. Today, Gert and I are flying to Los Angeles to spend the next week with Wes, Astrid, and my new grandson. During the next few weeks, I'll be reflecting a lot on all that we've done together and putting together some ideas about where we will go from here.

For many of us, this was our first time to really get involved in politics. I think we all learned a lot, and I hope you feel as I do: even more inspired to do whatever it takes to build a better America.

My pledge to you is to remain involved in the political process. And I ask you to do the same, because there is just too much at stake this election.

We cannot allow George W. Bush and the Republicans to play politics with national security.

We must reclaim the values of faith, family, patriotism, and inclusive leadership for America.

We must do everything in our power to send George W. Bush back to Texas and return the White House to its rightful owner -- the American people.

In short, I ask you to stick with me and support the Democratic nominee. There is a long road ahead and a lot of work to do. I'll be back in touch soon with ideas about how we can continue to work together and spread our message across America. If you have any thoughts you'd like to share, please email me at wesclark@clark04.com.

I look forward to continuing to work with you to build a better America.

Best regards,

Wes Clark

2. I got one too
I think that him recieving 13,000 votes hurt Kerry and I get the message that he wants us to vote for Kerry in our respective primaries.

3. I wish I could have had the honor to cast my vote for him.
I still may, Texas primary is March 9, and I will support my party's candidate come November. Gert and Wes are a class act.

*sigh* I'm going to have to write him an email. It will make me feel better, I think?:cry::cry:

13. Oh, in_cog_ni_to
You're breaking my heart.

This has all been so hard, but we are right to stick with Wes, because America needs us and especially him. He doesn't have to be president to work his way, although it would have been the best outcome; as long as he has us and we have him, we're okay.

This is a great day for Wes Clark Democrats! We had two wins last night: John Kerry in Wisconsin and Ben Chandler in Kentucky. We have the General's promise we will organize for progressive causes. Our website is staying. I say, all in all, we're doing fucking great!

:toast:

20. I know.
I think we're doing great too, but this whole primary election process just wreaks corruption. It really does make me :puke: HE should have been our President.

I will always be with Wes in whatever he chooses to do....I trust him more than any Washington politician. I just miss him. I can't wait until his vacation is over and he's back on the campaign trail! :)

I'm getting better, really! Thanks for your words of encouragement.

I was THRILLED to see Chandler win last night! I'd like to think we Wes Clark Democrats were one of the reasons he won. ;)

7. You Missed an Important PS
P.S. To minimize any confusion during this transition period, all communications about my future plans, fundraising, and any other official information will come directly from me. As always, you also will be able to find this information on our official website, www.clark04.com.

My guess is that the Paul Johnson "plaque" fundraiser letter last week was not previewed or approved by the General.

9. Got mine too.
Notice how he said "stick with me"

In my email, this phrase is underlined!!

I think he's trying to keep some sort of base, & I will be with him.

I wonder if Dean and the others will do the same, if Kerry is the nominee?
