Good LORD, Timmy. The republican debate and prayer meeting is later.

1. If you don't pray ...
You can't be President.

2. I'd love it if they asked "What's your favorite quotation from ANOTHER holy book?"
I see mostly blank stares in response, but it would give something useful to the viewers, I think.

5. What is your favorite quote from the gnostic gospels, for instance
Or the Rig Veda?
What insight have you had during meditation?

4. LOL. Well, I can't argue with what they chose.
Obama chose the Beattitudes. Hillary chose my favorite: The golden rule, which is really all we need and I think Confucious probably came up with that one. I liked Biden's pick of the Pharisees/Republicans.

7. the entire "sermon on the mount" is pretty good
Any educated, literate person from the Western Civilization tradition should have at minimum a passing familiarity with that, regardless of their own beliefs (or lack thereof) regarding religion.

Blessed are the peacemakers, anyone?

10. Well Mr. Russert . . .
When I contemplate the lawlessness of the current administration, I'm reminded of Amos 5:24, "let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream." Under a gratuitous administration, people convicted of outing undercover intelligence agents would serve their entire sentence, and would not look to the Oval Office to keep them from going to prison.

Want to serve up another softball for me to blast out of the yard while excoriating the current administration in ways you never would, Mr. Russert?
