If John Edwards were
to win the democratic nomination, who could he ask to be the VP??, would it have to be Kerry or could he take an unknown and still win?
Carter took Mondale as he was well known..

1. If it did happen, he would have to take Kerry
Combing the campaigns together is our best bet. The same goes for a Kerry win. Combine the two most successful campaigns.

9. no way.
Kerry/Edwards might work, but not the other way around. no way would/should Kerry take the VP spot- if he's not the nominee, he's much more important to us in the Senate.

Clark would match up much better with Edwards, IMHO...

but it's a moot point, since Kerry is going to be the nominee.

2. no way Kerry
he's too important where he is in the Senate.

We'd be giving up a very high ranking Senator.

3. If Edwards is the nominee
He'll choose Wesley Clark to be his VP.

5. I agree....
....General Clark would be an excellent choice. In fact, I don't think Senator Kerry would accept a V.P. spot at this point. If Dr. Dean doesn't step aside soon, Edwards doesn't stand a chance.

4. I don't know why V.P. discussions here concentrate on other candidates
For Kerry - should it be Edwards, Clark or Kucinic?

For Clark and Edwards - should it be Kerry or Dean? and so it goes.

There is a lot of ego in running a campaign - any campaign - and we expect such a person to swallow his/her ego and agree to be in someone's shadow for the next four or eight years? The only example of recent years has been papa Bush and he survived only one term, never shaking his wimp image.

Let the final nominee select someone to match his platform with no previous campaign claims.

6. Edwards said John Kerry
Edwards himself said he would like John Kerry to be his vice president. but i think general clark would be a better choice for vp if edwards wins the nomination.

7. Kerry would be a HORRIBLE choice for VP.
If he's not the presidential nominee, Kerry should stay in the Senate, or we'd be handing his seat over to Mitt Romney to fill.

8. agree, clark would be better
agree, kerry should stay in the senate if he doesn't win the nomination. and clark would be better on the ticket with edwards anyways.

13. I think that was a sarcastic response
To all the questions about whether Edwards would be a good VP for Kerry. Edwards was trying to emphasise the point that he is running for President, not VP.

10. Clark's the best VP either way.
Somebody has to try and patch things up between us and Europe.

11. Dean.
Not currently holding office, brings more passion to the ticket.

12. VP is an Edwards' problem
Kerry would have a great time strengthening his ticket, but this is where a relatively young newcomer would have trouble. Way too early, but I would imagine Clark by necessity is needed for a one-two punch where it counts most for a massive mandate- which though not mentioned here is needed too to deal with the Repug Congress. This runs counter to Clark maybe not wanting the job and still not making traction on the stump. An encounter of either one with Cheney would be a true test of American heart-pacemaker technology. Bob Graham might be another tactical gut punch into Bush land and his chances would be enhanced tremendously if Clark or Kerry were unavailable.
