Luken: Kerry would help Ohio, nation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Post staff report
Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken says he was stunned when President Bush announced he wanted to send a person to Mars.
"I said, 'I must have missed something,' " said Luken. "How is sending a man to Mars going to help with the issues we're dealing with in Ohio every day?
"People in this state are looking for leadership in job creation and how to bring back manufacturing jobs. We need somebody like John Kerry who understands what it's like to be in a working class family in this country today."
Luken made the comments Tuesday in a telephone conference call with news reporters that was arranged by Kerry's presidential campaign staff.
Ohio's presidential primary is March 2 and Kerry planned to kick off his Ohio campaign today in Dayton by talking with laid-off Delphi Corp. workers and blaming job losses on Bush.
