Harry Reid should have never allowed the MoveOn vote to come up!
Harry Reid should have never allowed the MoveOn vote to come up!

Our Democratic Congressional leaders are inept and incompetent compared to Republican leaders, or to the great Democratic leaders of old such as Speaker Sam Rayburn and Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson.

Look at how Newt Gingrich ran the House, and Trent Lott ran the Senate, and you will see how Pelosi and Reid should have controlled the institution's agenda against any GOP proposal. You can't provide the GOP with any sort of platform for them to air their propaganda.

As to Hillary and Dodd, kudos to both of them for standing up to another bullshit GOP proposal.

A big demerit to Barbara Boxer for her "Cover Your Ass" proposal to condemn anyone that questions the patriotism of military leaders. One should never play the "Keep the GOP happy" game under any circumstances. Remember how the GOP questioned everything about Wes Clark when he was serving on active duty? Did they ever vote on any proposal similar to Boxer's?

A big gigantic BOOOOO! to the appeasement wing of the Democratic Party, DiFi for one, that went along with the GOP charade on MoveOn. Shall we mention, as Keith Olbermann did tonight how the GOP swiftboated war heroes such as John Kerry and Max Clelland?

If you want to support the troops, you should have supported the Webb proposal on military deployments.

Petraeus follows a long line of generals that have lied to protect and defend criminal war policies. Does the name Westmoreland ring a bell?

PS: Another big kudos to Hillary for saying publicly what we have all known about Dick Cheney, he is Darth Vader! Keep feeding us that red meat, Hillary. We might yet warm up to you!

5. I guess she believed the right wing propoganda.
That ad didn't even question Petraeus patriotism, but nobody there bothered to read it, apparently.

7. Here is the quote from a thread that includes Boxer's CYA proposal
However, Obama did vote on a Democratic measure by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) intended to provide political cover for Democrats. Boxer’s amendment reffirms support for all U.S. military personnel and to condemn attacks on the patriotism of any soldier. designed to counter Cornyn. The Boxer amendment failed on a 51-46-3 vote. Cornyns’ measure said it was a “sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

8. Thanks, I See What She Was Trying To Do
We do support the troops and she was trying to tone dwon the amendment by passing this one instead. But ugh, the "condemn attacks on the patriotism of any soldier" still went to far and I will remind her that free speech is more importante than any soldiers hurt feelings. Especially one who is disgracing America. F*** Petraeus, he is a traitor.

15. As Olbermann said last night, Petraeus chose to play to role of a Bush shill
and I am reminded of Admiral Fallon's comments about Petraeus being a chicken shit ass kisser.

tens of thousands of dollars since the vote. Good!

13. Great, then let's repudiate all our candidates too!
Yeah! Then (by your logic) they will get a lot of attention and publicity, anbd rake in a lot of campaign cash, right?

Hot tip: you don't turn on your friends in this manner. Its bad business for everyone. Especially when there are many many more important things to worry about, like being bamboozled by Bush and his war machine.

4. True. And for god's sake Harry, let them have their fillibusters.
Let them fillibuster until they all drop from exhaustion. I wish Congress had half as much concern and passion for our troops well-being and safety as they did for that one little ad. If MoveOn was a company on the stock market, we'd all be filthy rich right now.

6. I'm kind of glad he did, it's given the BETRAYUS thing a lot more
attention than it would have otherwise, anyhow it makes the republicans out to be the old fussy maids that they are.

12. Well, this is how I look at it:
Nobody likes the Congress anymore. The majority of Americans don't believe the Dems will do what they're suppose to do. Even those Republicans who believe in the pendulum system, (Democrats build the treasury, Republicans raid it), they don't care for the Congress.

But who did step it up and represent Americans this last week? Moveon. org. They now have the attention they need to lead the country.

17. Yeah, that sounds great now - but when the GOP was blocking votes it didn't feel so good, huh?
You have to take the good with the B.S. in politics.

Look at how Newt Gingrich ran the House, and Trent Lott ran the Senate, and you will see how Pelosi and Reid should have controlled the institution's agenda against any GOP proposal. You can't provide the GOP with any sort of platform for them to air their propaganda.

They're supposed to be our role models on how to run things????? NO THANK YOU.
