Tucker Weighs In

He has said that Edwards is a boring candidate after he gives his speech a few times.

I talked to a few people and they say the same thing.

Some people say that Kerry is boring and they call him lurch and such,
Even Ron Reagan, but I think John Kerry has more energy than any candidate out there.

Who do you think has more energy when they connect with the people.

Edwards or Kerry.

My bet is on Kerry.

1. Kerry Gets Hugely Important AFL-CIO Endorsement on Thursday
Every Dem who gets AFL-CIO endorsement wins the nomination. It's virtually all the unions. Huge ground support and money.

2. I would clean out my ears with a power drill before I listened to
anything _ucker Carlson said. I'd suspect he was the Son of Satan but I think the devil has more pride than that.

Kerry has put trees to sleep.

Edwards just needs a new speech.

3. Frankly, I couldn't care less about energy
Where this country is right now, I want someone I think I can trust. Whether or not they're exciting is irrelevant. What we need is a leader, not a goddamned ringmaster.

5. They both have their pros and cons
but I recall being bored watching one of Edwards' campaign stops in New Hampshire. He kept repeating the phrase "And one more thing....and one more thing...." everytime he wanted to move on to another issue. It was over and over and over.

17. How 'bout Carville, then: Edwards best stump speaker ever!
Not the best stump speaker since . . . Not the best stump speech on a particular day. THE best stump speaker he has ever seen. Clinton, Cuomo, whoever, and Carville says Edwards is the best.

23. Clinton is a much better communicator
than John Edwards.

Can you imagine Clinton saying something as cloying as John Edwards drawling "Talkin' like this, you know I can win the South." Uggh.

Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 01:31 AM by PurityOfEssence
I hate his smarmy little guts, but that made me laugh out loud. He too is scared to death of Edwards.

But since you asked, Edwards is the much better communicator, and he connects much better than Kerry.

Kerry's drier than hiker food.

and then being more likeable than Bush in November.

14. Yeah that's what I got.
I am sick of him acting like Dean should not be trusted. Dean has never been my favorite but jeese - enough already - it's simply not true. I think Tucker has to reinforce the negative things they have said about Dean because they recognize his latent strength.

Yes - Tucker is trying to run Edwards down. Edwards makes him nervous.

Kerry - he's not bad in interviews but a boring stumper. Tired of the phrase "And I say to you..."

Edwards is a much better communicator - he reaches people.

I think all of the candidates are generally on message which means that us junkies will hear the same things over and over from any of them.

15. Have you seen Edwards in person? You wouldn't be asking if you had
Edwards is unbelievable in person. There are people in the crowd tearing up . . . and it is not because they are bored out of their minds, asking themselves if this guy can ever finish a sentence.
He is charismatic.

19. Edwards is more energetic.
Honestly don't see how anyone could think Kerry is more energetic or connects.

I don't think you should even try to sell this - anybody takes a look at these two and the answer is obvious.

Edwards, Kucinich and Dean are most charismatic, and in that order, IMO.

You should sell Kerry not on charisma - sell him as a man of serious demeanor for serious times - as an experienced man to pull us out of a mess created by a guy with a thin resumé, as a guy who "looks presidential."

I'm totally an Edwards fan - think he is the one with the charisma and the one who gets, on a personal level, what it is like to be working class. I think he's the best one to fight the takeover of our country by corporate America.

But, sell Kerry on his strengths and learn to spin his weaknesses as an asset. Don't try to pretend he has some sort of energy as a public speaker that just isn't there.

20. everyone's speech is boring
after you've heard it more than a couple times... they rarely change them up much, so it gets old and redundant, but they aren't targetting people who watch them stump as much as guys like Tucker or posters here do.

24. Very few voters are political junkies like us...
...and like the pundits on the major news networks. Edwards's "son of a mill worker" stance will continue to play, because more and more voters will be hearing it for the first time.

26. The only reason Tucker said this is because Edwards is such an effective
speaker.

He's saying the opposite of the truth to undermine Edwards's greatest strength.

Remember how they did this from 92-00?
