8. Do you have a reason
you want Kucinich kicked out of the Dem party?

16. Hmm Kucinich is actually a Democrat
Lieberman is a member of his own party. He just caucuses with us.

But he is no longer a Democrat.

33. Hit and run?
Or do you want to present an argument that Kucinich doesn't belong in the party?

34. Because you want the Dems to be just like the GOP
Which is what nominating a "centrist" means.

You think lowering ourselves to the Nineties again WOULDN'T be a waste of time.

You're on the side of the rich.

2. Shouldn't he have been booted for running against the
Democratic Party nominee in the general election? If not, he needs to go.

3. He has. We just have to get his sorry ass out of the Senate. Un-
fortunately, not for another six years - unless the next Dem president offers him the ambassadorship to Israel. Since he is already acting the part, it would not be much of a change.

Seriously, the best we can hope for is to pick up enough seats next year to make him irrelevant.

4. Lieberman ceased to be a Democrat the moment he declared he was running as an independent
There are two independents in the Senate at the moment: Joe Lieberman and Bernie Sanders. Both have been invited by the Democratic Caucus to associate with them, but that does not make either one a Democrat.

6. I thought he'd switch after the midterm
I can't imagine why he's still OK with calling himself a Dem. His own party REJECTED his ass, fer Chrissake! And because of that, we need to be constantly reminded that the Dems in effect have NO majority in the Senate, because on any important constitutional or foreign policy issue, this asswipe will vote Repug every time.

22. Registering to vote as a Democrat
is not the same as being a Democratic senator. On the register, he's still officially an "Independent Democrat," and will be until he either asks to rejoin the party (and is accepted) or wins the Democratic endorsement for 2012.

14. I hate Lieberman!
This guy has been a thorn in the side of America since the
early 90's with his crusades against freedom of expression in
music and games. Now he is a serious traitor. Go to hell
Lieberman.

until after '08 (when we can tell him to get lost). It's a small price to pay to keep Boxer as the chair of the Env. committee....or Leahy as head of judiciary...

30. Alas, the only option is to somehow oust Vitter
and have the (for now) Democratic gov. of LA appoint a Dem to replace Vitter.

Otherwise, if you get Joementum to officially declare himself Republican, we have an official 50-50 tie in the Senate. Darth Cheney is the tie-breaker, and all the Democratic committee chairs go poof.

So like it or not (and I HATE it), we are stuck with this pain in the ass.

He's the one who let him retain his seniority.

Lieberman is just as much a neocon as any of the Bush/Cheney bunch.

31. What choice does Harry have?
Get serious, people. Joe holds the cards. We play a game of chicken with him on every significant foreign policy bill--every one.

If he joins the Repubs, the Senate's officially a tie, and the committee chairs are shared (at best.) Forget about even introducing progressive legislation.

I know, maybe that's what we'll have to do. But we can't dump what little power we do have, methinks.
