What happened in Wisconsin?
Even Edwards was shocked when he was on with Larry King. What were the factors that turned the Wisconsin on it's head?

I think the Drudge crud had to play a role. I don't know how much, though.

Is this the first electoral rejection of NAFTA? That's the only factor I can think of that Edwards really pushed to seperate himself from Kerry.

1. Edwards is getting overwhelming support from Independents & Repubs.
As reported on CNN and noted in several other threads.

8. And some of his detractors are feverishly bashing him for this, tonight.
After all, how else do we win the GE?? And if we don't win the GE, what difference will ANY of this have made??

NAFTA
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 09:55 PM by lcordero
Perot ran against NAFTA and it garnered him a lot of votes.

Russ Feingold has been running against NAFTA every time that he has a re-election. I think that he might be saying something bad about NAFTA every single time he has a listening session in Wisconsin.

4. Maybe it just isn't time to call the primaries over.
It isn't even March, yet, for crying out loud!!! Maybe the WI voters decided they liked Edwards, and/or they were NOT going to be herded into the DNC line.

issue. Remember we have Russ Feingold, so that wishy-washy tell them what they want to hear doesn't cut it here.

For a lot of folks this was more of a No to Kerry, No to the DNC, No to how the system has been run to this point.

5. Clearly Edwards' "Two Americas"
theme resonated with Wisconsin voters. Also, I think voters were sending Kerry a message - the DNC is not going to have the final say on our nominee. We the voters will take back the nominating process.

But the Senator deserves many, many kudos for this terrific showing. He is going to keep this competitive, which, IMHO can only help the party and the eventual nominee.

edit for speeling mestaik

12. I should add in the Wisc. newspapers
Newspaper endorsements always help. They obviously helped Edwards here.
