Edwards in a shocker?
Congrats to Sen. Edwards from a Kerry supporter. This was really unexpected, apparently the pollsters got it completely wrong again.

I am still hoping that Kerry can yet pull this out before the night is through, but just the fact that it is so close has to be good news for the Edwards camp.

1. True. But it was the independents and Republicans that.....
put him over the top.

4. Well, they are the ones we HAVE to win over, in the GE.
So, it's going perfectly, so far.

2. Pollster Don't Factor In Republicans Voting For The Weaker Candidates
purposely.

Did Gray Davis work it out so that he could run against a Republican he could beat?

Yes.

Are Republicans voting for the Democrats easiest to beat in General Election?

Of course.

5. Yeah, ALL Wisconsin repukes have had this planned out.
They met last week in a huge secret convention in Milwaukee. Right. :eyes:

16. No marching orders from right wing talk radio in Wisc.
Rush and Co. were not yelling for right wingers to mobilize and vote for Edwards to extend the race. There would be some evidence in right wing spew that there were marching orders, and there isn't.

26. The idea that Edwards is a Repuke tool is just a stupid
as all of these Kerry/DLC conspiracy theorists.

8. Clark should have stayed in
He was polling well ahead of Edwards, I wonder what Clark was promised? It had to be something because Clark would have done better with swing and independent voters in WI. Why would no one have factored that in, I'm sure they did.

If Edwards pulls an upset, his supporters here will get my sincere congratulations.

7. I wonder if these early numbers reflect rural precints?
Edwards did well in rural Iowa, and I believe that rural precincts frequently report early.

On the other hand, no network is calling the race.

This is going to be an interesting night.

FYI, I'm STILL ABB.

12. Maybe The Republicans Were Not Voting Strategically
Maybe they aren't planning to vote for Bush in November and really wanted Edwards to win. If it weren't for Edwards's position on the war, I could easily jump on the bandwagon.

17. That's what I think
Big job losses in WI, plenty of anger with Bush there. I think the Republican support for Edwards is genuine from the ones who are sick of Bush.

The cynical side of me wonders if the intern smear paid off. Still, I'm ABB, so I'm going with the better part. Well done John Edwards.
