9. Deadline for applying for absentee ballots is between the 29th and 7th day before the election.
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 05:42 PM by rinsd
You can send in your application before the 29th day but it will not be considered until then. County election officials cannot accept and application after the 7th day.

So this year it will be between Jan 7th and Jan 29th 2008.

Here's a link to the CA SoS's explanation http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/Outreach/absentee/links/absgde_long.pdf

And for those seeking a ballot, here's a link for that - http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_m.htm#apply

Here's stats on the number of absentee voters the last few elections

Between that and NYC electing Giuliani and Bloomberg, I'm not all that impressed with the Democrats in the "big states" either. In fact, based on that, there probably aren't as many liberal Democrats as DU likes to think there is.

I'm not sure what you're driving at. That the California electorate is fickle? Is that really so surprising? California is made up of many pockets that do not necessarily agree on all things. Yet, still, Hillary leads the poll. Not much to question about that. She is obviously more popular that the other candidates.

Let's face it, the "fix" is in. Her corporate friends all want her. She has lots of support from her Congressional friends. And the DLC would LOVE to have her in the WH.

Obama is a fresh and entertaining face, but he has No Chance this time around. Edwards can't seem to get any traction, and he's been stalled since his wife's cancer announcement.

Mark my words, unfortunately the nominee will be Ms. Clinton, and the Corporate Media will spend 10 months in 2008 watching the close horserace that will develop between her and probably Giulliani.

50. It makes it simple
for the Hillary bots to believe that she is despised because of the VRWC, if that's what you truly think. Mostly, I wish it were true, and she was at her core a progressive I could support, but my damn lying eyes keep telling me differently.

If you believe she is honestly a Democrat, you have to ignore so many facts that demonstrate otherwise. You must believe she isn't what Rupert Murdoch and the other Bush supporters who fund her know she is, I am unable to get to that place. What she is will not help the country. It breaks my heart that with her nomination all hope for the next four years, at least, will be lost.

Your gleeful anticipation for the time when the places where Democrats discuss progressive issues will become like the rest of the mainstream media, sanitized to the point of absurdity, is understandable. She is difficult to defend with facts, and these personal attacks used endlessly to insult her detractors must get tiresome for you.

You look forward to the day when the truth can't be spoken about Hillary. In a twisted way I do to, because then I can completely give up. Although I intellectually accept that she will be the nominee, emotionally I just can't believe that the Party I supported all my life will nominate a candidate for whom I am unable to vote.

Hillary is obviously counting on massive former Republican crossover to offset the Yellow Dogs who see her for what she is. Maybe she'll get them. Maybe we'll all get endless war. You'll win, won't that be nice.

55. You're a fine example
of what I'm talking about.

If you honestly believe Clinton is NOT a Democrat, you're just willfully ignorant, or worse, deliberately lying.

Check any of the political groups that rate politicians - she's a liberal democrat. According to www.progressivepunch.org, she's the 14th most progressive member of the Senate, beating out Russ Feingold and others who are praised here.

Again, even though I haven't decided who I'm voting for in the primary, I would be very pleased to see Clinton win just to see the liars and haters here explode.

56. That same standard shows Lieberman is
a liberal as well. Damn my lying eyes again. Look at what she does, not how she manipulates her scores on these report cards. There is a reason Rupert Murdoch and the Bush Rangers love her, and it's not her progressive voting record, it is because they know they can count on her in a pinch. She's their girl.

My head won't explode when she gets the nomination, I've watched two Bush inaugurations, and survived them. At this point I don't expect electoral outcomes to benefit the nation. The shock of a real Democrat winning might kill me, if you're looking for something to hope for..

so can I:

National Journal rates Lieberman as 32.5, four senators above Clinton who it rates 29.8. They are very close.
http://nationaljournal.com/voteratings/sen/cons.htm

Why are you so deliberately dishonest about Sen Clinton? It's just wrong to lie about a candidate, why in the world would you do such a thing? It hurts deeply when a Democrat does such a thing. It is so disappointing.

As I said, watch what she does. There is a reason the Republicans support her, and it is not her progressive politics.
