Southern Indiana Democrats I would love to hear from you District 44
Please look for my new fliers around town, and please know you are welcome to e-mail me. I was at the downtown "Anti-War" meeting ( IU Bloomington, Indiana)and it was great!!! I also want all IU groups to know I would be glad to make myself available to you if you would like a State Senate candidate district 44 the fight'n 44's. My candidate e-mail is vanpelt4indianasenate@yahoo.com and please watch for my new Southern Indiana political blog on a Yahoo.com web site soon. And as a American Legion Member just ask and if I do not have to work (I like no other candidate took a second job to pay for my campaign! I work till 2am during the week and 4am weekends as a dame good pizza cook I mite add :) I would love to come over to a American Legion Post and have a coke and a smile with my fellow citizens.

I am just tiered of getting craped on and as a father of three, a husband, a tax payer, a Hoosier native, and a U.S. Army vet. I am not taking the shit anymore. I may not have the millions my rich republican lawyer adversary has, but I am willing to give it a shot. It is most certain better than getting shit on again am I right?

Sorry State Senator Brent Steele (R-Bedford), you had two elections unopposed. Now you have me, and I am coming full force right at you and your rip-off republican party! Van Pelt is the name and one way or the other I am sure you will come to remember it sir.

Tony G. Van Pelt
Democratic Candidate
Indiana State Senate
District 44 (The Fight'n 44's)
(D-Bedford)

2. I'm an IU alum. Where do you stand on funding IU out of
state tax money? I was shocked to learn that the state of Indiana gives so little support to its university. After all, IU is a land grant university. I believe the state has an obligation to make good on the promise that those who originally founded IU gave to provide education for as close to free as possible to Indiana's college students.

5. Where do you stand on telling the people of Indiana that
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 12:17 AM by JDPriestly
they were given the gift of a land grant university and they have the patriotic obligation to support that university?

Clearly, I have a point of view on this. I think that the reluctance of the people of Indiana to support their university is a slap in the face of Jefferson and the other great men who had the vision to establish a university in the wilderness of Indiana at that time. I have stood on land in Indiana that my ancestors settled before Indiana was even a territory. I felt great awe at the courage of those who settled that wild land back in the dawn of the 19th century. I am offended that the present population of Indiana is so willing to discard the great gift that they have been given by those who established IU. What ingratitude. The people of Indiana should be ashamed. They should be reminded of the generations of people that sacrificed so that their state could have one of the best public universities in the country. Indiana should remain true to the dream of low-cost, affordable higher education for ordinary students.

7. I think your idea is a good one but unless Indiana's politics change
I don't see your opinion making any difference. Sorry. Hope I am wrong.
