Don't patronize me.
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 07:36 PM by alexwcovington
Yes, I am a young person. I'm 18 now and this was the first election I could vote in. But I would have voted regardless of who was in the race.

Howard Dean is not responsible for my vote. I am responsible for my vote for Howard Dean.

Howard Dean did not inspire me to political action. He may have for others, but I am politically active for reasons far more personal to me.

So I take offense when you say "I am glad Howard Dean got you excited in the process." I take offense when you say that to my face after you voted for someone. After you had the chance to talk with me and find out why I supported Dean. After you passed up a chance to hear thoughtful insight from me and instead regurgitated cable news punditocracy on me.

Don't patronize me. If you had really cared about my efforts, you would have at least heard me out.

(just a rant to pollgoers from Feb 3)

2. To be fair...
...many people (including myself!) did get into "the process" as a result of the good doctor.

So, I don't take such comments as being patronizing, but rather the truth.

The Dem. party owes a lot to Dean for the excitement he generated.

Nice rant. We're lucky to have you join the ranks of voters this year.
