Craig may not resign after all!!!
Oh, please let this be true.

Official says decision hinges on outcomes of Minn. legal case, ethics probe

BOISE, Idaho - Sen. Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign after his arrest in a Minnesota airport sex sting and may still fight for his Senate seat, his spokesman said Tuesday evening.

"It's not such a foregone conclusion anymore, that the only thing he could do was resign," said Sidney Smith, Craig's spokesman in Idaho's capital.

"We're still preparing as if Sen. Craig will resign Sept. 30, but the outcome of the legal case in Minnesota and the ethics investigation will have an impact on whether we're able to stay in the fight — and stay in the Senate."

Craig, a Republican who has represented Idaho in Congress for 27 years, announced Saturday that he intends to resign from the Senate on Sept. 30. But since then, he's hired a prominent lawyer to investigate the possibility of reversing his plea, his spokesman said.

1. Right...
I plead guilty but I didn't do anything. I am going to resign but not really. Craig shouldn't be a Senator just for the fact that he has no idea what the hell he is doing!

2. That's just what I was thinking!
Can we believe anything that comes out of a Rethuglican's mouth? That's a rhetorical question, of course.

6. So isn't a false guilty plea a perjury? Also a crime?

5. He was just tapping his toe
no crime in that. Half of DU and the liberal blogosphere has said so for the last week.

Why shouldn't he fight to stay.

10. He can fight, but he'll lose. Reversing a guilty plea is not that
easy, and if it goes to trial, the jury If he takes a jury trial) in MN will not care if he is a Sen from ID, and neither will the judge.

One other thing, if he thinks he has it bad now, if he goes to trial, everything comes out on the table. The man is an idiot, simply because his guilty plea was to cover up a possible embarrassment. If he goes to trial, he just handed himself the shovel to dig his own grave.

Craig is in a no-win situation. His "image" is already tarnished, and he has no notion of how to compose himself. Watch the media circus over this...he'll be

You didn't just plea, you plea BARGAINED, remember? If you do get it rescinded, you might get hit with what they ORIGINALLY charged you with, plus perjury. And if you have any ideas about putting the police or the Idaho Statesman on trial, all prosecution has to do is bring up your reaction to the 1982 page scandal, and then point out that the Statesman didn't run a story about the scandal until FOUR WEEKS AFTER you signed the deal!

11. Larry Craig, please stay off of small planes!
Oh, my God, this is fantastic. As Talking Points Memo said, this week was supposed to be all about Petraeus and the triumphant surge, and here is a huge Republican sex scandal to steal all the cable news attention for weeks!

Oh, maybe there is a god after all!
