The rest of the Democrats are bunched together as unlikely leaders with brilliance

That's all I can rank, all others fail to meet the grade..certainly all Republicans.

6. My take at this point if Gore does not run is Clinton, Obama, Edwards/
Richardson and the other dems at 4th place. No pug would ever be satisfactory to me after their obnoxious behavior the last 61/2 years so I refuse to even contemplate such a travesty. If it occurs I'm moving out of the country anyway.

I've heard that the term "yellow" or "blue dog" Democrat meant that the person would vote for a "yellow" or "blue dog" before ever voting for a republicker.

In that context alone, I quess I can now consider myself "a pile of dogshit" Democrat."

ROFLMAO!

Hillary Clinton is NOT William J Clinton!

Somehow this is not getting through to people who support her. OR her gender overpowers every other consideration. This woman does NOT unite and lead America! She's not even looked at as favorably as her husband was when he was lying about sex!

27. I surely don't agree, but heck, this is that poster's opinion!
Giuliani and Clinton both had their opportunity on 9/11 to shine.

One did, the other .....well, let's just say her stories of what happened for HER that day, regarding her daughter, simply aren't credible!

"There is also the lie- well known to most- where Hillary claimed that her daughter Chelsea was in danger on September 11, claiming that her daughter went for a jog down to the towers themselves, and when the planes hit, she saw the buildings right there and was nearly in peril. Too bad again, since Chelsea totally debunked her mother's phony story in a magazine article. She was realy on the other side of the city, and was woken up with a phone call telling her to watch the news- and she never got anywhere near the towers, instead she was staring shocked at the tv screen most of the day."

Because you are basing this upon standing in polls, or are you rating Giuliani above Obama because you REALLY think he's better for America than Obama?

21. I included them to rub people's noses in the fact that they have to vote Democrat

I wanted to force people who are saying "I won't vote for X" (usually Clinton, sometimes Obama or Edwards or one of the other candidates) from doing what post 14 is doing and saying "X is no better than the Republicans", and force them to come right out with the more obviously absurd "X is no better than Giuliani/Romney/McCain etc.

All sorts of things that look feasible in the abstract become absurd when you think about what they mean in the real world. Not helping the Democratic candidate win is one of them.

50. The next president of the US will be one of those ten people.

With a probability well above 95%, and that's a cautious estimate.

Actually, it's probably possible to narrow it down to about 8 or fewer of those - none of the Democrats except Clinton, Obama and Edwards has a realistic chance.

They are not the only ones available to vote for, of course, but they *are* the only ones available to be elected.

Kind of hard to decide whether McCain or Giuliani would be worse. McCain's pretty much blown all his fuses, and I suspect he would just shuffle from photo op to photo op let the neocons take the driver's seat in his presidency. Giuliani is a thug and would probably dismantle what few Constitutional protections we have left shortly after taking office.

53. I think Hil & Obama would lose it for the Dems....
Maybe it's just because I live in a red state, but I am constantly aghast at the number of "informed" and "smart" people I know who foam at the mouth when Hil is mentioned. I think the Democratic Party would find yet another way to lose if they nominated her as our candidate.

Alas, in my red state, there are vast numbers of citizens who, foaming at the mouth all the way to the polls, would NOT vote for either Hillary Clinton or for a black man for president. In fact, I expect to see a lot of crossover voting at primary time, with Publicans voting in the Dem primaries just to ensure that either Hil or Obama win Dem primary elections, thereby ensuring Dem candidate defeat in November.

Crossover voting is how we wound up with Joe Liberman, remember?

Altho' he's put his foot in his mouth a number of times, I think Biden has the background to be the best President. I also like Edwards because he understands the "two Americas" and relates well to people.

60. here is goes....
From worse to best. This is about performance and not political views or ideology.

Thompson (lazy, mails it in)
Guiliani (egomaniac)
McCain (old & spent)
Romney (everything about him changes in the breeze minus his hair)
Obama (Tired of the cheerleader routine, he hasn't given me anything to rank him higher)
Brownback (competent)
Biden (competent)
Edwards (coin flip between Edwards & Clinton being #2 & #3)
Clinton
Richardson (seasoned veteran on both domestic and international affairs)

The gap between the first few is really small, but once you hit Romney, the gaps get bigger than Guiliani's make-up kit.

61. This is a really hard question. For the Republicans on the list, I'd
say Brownback would be the best executive (if an ideologicaly repulsive one); and after that there's a sharp dropoff in the elemental skills for excutives. McCain's a hothead -- very volatile. Romney's a vampire, a creep, a throwback, a cross between a Norman Rockwell figure and a David Lynch character. Giuliani's a thug.

So for the Pukes, I'll go with Brownback as the best of a horrible field, and everyone else even worse.

For Dems, I think Edwards, Biden and Obama would be the most inspired officials in the job, with Dodd next, then Richardson, then Sen. Clinton, then Kucinich, then Gravel. This is strictly on executive temperament and not an ideological alignment or ordering.

The order for me is different when you use Issues as the criteria, or inclination toward progress judicial appointments, or command of language, etc.

62. How good a president--not "can they win" or "do I like t hem" Richardson, Biden, Obama, Edwards
Richardson has the foreign policy experience and has been an effective and innovative governor.

Biden has forgotten more about foreign policy than most of these other guys have ever learned. This of course did not stop him from voting for the Iraq war. I also don't care for his pushing for the bankruptcy bill so I' don't care much for him but I think he could be effective.

Obama seems a great guy and is charismatic as all hell, but the question is can he manage things and make things happen. I actually like the way he's run his campaign--it bodes well for him, but I'd like to see a bit of experience in his past.

Clinton would be an effective candidate but I don't know about her management skills. She did not do a great job on health care.

Edwards, nice guy but I don't see where he's demonstrated management skills on a large scale.

As for the Republicans:

Romney--this man would sell his own mother to a Chinese slave labor camp if it would get him votes but he was a semi-successful governor of Massachusetts and may be a decent manager--at least he says he is.

McCain--Even if he gets elected, McCain has managed to alienate both Republicans and Democrats alike. This old warhorse is ready to be hauled off to the glue factory. On the plus side he does know foreign policy--at least from a hawkish right winger perspective.

Thompson--no longer running but probably a step above Brownback and anybody is better than Giuliani--a man who would alienate everyone in sight within a few short months.

65. It's easy to confuse liking someone
with thinking they would make a good president.

I think of those choices Obama would be the best president, followed by Richardson. But I still have an open mind about it. :D
