Is It Common For Police (Any Police) To Release Interogation Tapes?......
I just find this strange. I don't think I've ever heard anything like this before and certainly not from a Senator. It makes me wonder why this was released. To distract us? To further embarrass Craig? Is somebody sending a signal that if you don't play ball with us - this is what can happen to you? I'm perplexed.

It was released? Where? Can you link us to it?

What am I missing here?

Edited to add: Court TV and A+E have shows with video and audio tapes of interrogations.

2. My guess is that it is the response to the Press Conference that Craig had
before the public had time to assemble torches and pitchforks because of his lies.

3. They do in this town when it's a high profile case
I think Craig's case qualifies.

He plea bargained down to a lesser charge. The spin machine is undoubtedly in full whirl. The interrogation tape is an attempt to set the record straight.

8. The police -- according to the news
I would assume because Craig held a press conference claiming he didn't do it even though he pled guilty, and as a result impugning the police force. Implying they were lying. I don't blame them.

9. Well, It was Larry Craig's CHOICE
To hold his own press conference.

The Minneapolis Airport Police have to present THEIR side of the event, with electronic audio tape, countering Larry Craig's "I never did anything wrong in the MN airport".

Hello? The police are as much public servants paid for by us as is Larry Craig. If one public servant makes press events of his claims of innocence, don't you think that we, the taxpayers, deserve the "other side" of the story? We paid for BOTH sides.

Just a question.

Now don't get me going about police states! Please, George Bush advanced the police state more than any other President, it's only right that one of his own supporters should be caught up in this mess! IMO! If you're going to break the law, expect to be recorded on video, ok?
