I'm meeting Richardson on Saturday - Any Questions for him?
I'm going to one of his so called Job Interviews on Saturday afternoon.

I really want to ask why the NRA loves him so much, but I plan to be nice like I am when meeting any of our honorable candidates.

1. Is it true that he ordered the New Mexico ballots
(2004) to be destroyed? If not, what is the story?

3. I might ask that
but I still want to know which gun companies support him.

20. Gun companies are mostly small family businesses...
with fairly low profit margins.

I know a lot of DU gun owners support him; he is one of the few people I trust to keep his fingers out of our family's gun safe.

I'd love to see it come down to Richardson vs. Guliani. Rudy is a "gun rights for hunters only" prohibitionist, and having a Dem candidate who is genuinely pro-choice on the issue would be a Very Good Thing, IMO.

11. Although I was furious at the time
I know that it wouldn't have solved anything. The whole thing would be just as tied up in lawsuits as it still is now and the state wouldn't have representation in DC while it was all being decided.

He knew 17,000 of us were robbed of our votes, the figures were clear. That's why he signed the paper ballots bill with such a flourish.

Remember, the cases over those crooked voting machines is still in the courts, grinding its way through, facing every delaying tactic and obstruction the company can think of.

That's why the recount was abandoned in 2004.

17. NM now, with help from Richardson
has PAPER ballots (2006) and special handicap voter stations where not even the blind, but quadripeligics can vote alone (breath tube).
There were no ballots or trails in 2004, due to the electronic voting machines.
I have been an election Judge and am now a presiding Judge (I am always picked since I am registered Green and it helps balance the Judges and Clerks, but I'm going back to Dem to vote in the primaries and god knows how far from home I will be at 6:00 AM on the elections days) since I came back from France in 1994.

4. I think he's a little 'not ready for prime time'... so

given his defending of Gonzales for a long time when others has suggested he step down...
and given his misstep on Gay issues in the last debate:

Do your really think you are ready for a full power presidential run? The Republicans can be tough.

9. I have a serious question for most candidates.
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 08:48 PM by seasat
I'm leaning towards Richardson at the moment and I'd like to see how he and others address this question. For folks that already have an insurance plan will there be any regulation requiring these plans to cover certain treatments?

Currently it varies not only by cost of the plan but with individual contracts and different state regulations. Companies can cover one procedure then turn around and decide not to cover it later. Some state laws require a procedure to be covered while others do not. It's a mess and I wonder how the candidates who propose still including for profit insurance companies in the mix will address it.

I'm currently battling my insurance company that approved a second cochlear implant for one of my 2 year old twin sons but refused to provide the approval for his brother. When we pushed them on the issue they retroactively denied the first son's procedure saying that they mistakenly approved it. While I'm leaning towards Richardson, right now, I'd take Kucinich's health plan over any of them based on my dealings with United Health Care.

10. I will ask that and
though it sucks for you and those bastard insurers should be shot, I'll ask this one of each of the candidates.

12. Guns are a necessary evil out west
People even on the edge of this city can find bears and cougars in the back yard.

13. Who the heck lived there first
Not people.

If hunters didn't "harvest" all the deer, fish out the rivers and burn all the berries then maybe the Bears and Cougars would stay to themselves.

The only purpose of a gun is to kill and yes, Guns Kill.

16. Uh, bears come out in spring and fall when they're hungriest
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 10:19 PM by Warpy
and if you didn't know, there's been a drought out west that has affected many of their usual food sources, even though the reservoir had enough runoff last year to fill up. The trees and other vegetation up in the mountains are stressed and food is scarce.

Most folks out here use their guns to scare the critters out of the garbage. Firecrackers are a bad idea because you never know when one will be pissed off enough to charge.

These critters aren't Bambi. They're wild and they're dangerous.

15. Question: If you are elected President, will you pardon Dick Cheney and/or George W. Bush?
Follow up question: Will you honor an extradition request by the International Crimes Court at The Hague for Bush, Cheney, or any other high official in the Bush Administration?

Richardson's a good guy. Not perfect, I know, but I think he may be the right man for the job next year.

21. Gun owners like him...
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 09:36 AM by benEzra
because he has a record of opposing bans on popular, lawfully owned guns. My wife and I, and a lot of other DU'ers, own guns that the repubs at the Brady Campaign would like to ban, and we would like to keep them.

Dems and the Gun Issue - Now What? (written in '04, largely vindicated in '06, IMO)

22. Ash him . . .
How he is going to get his ambitious agenda through a divided Congress, including a Senate with Hillary, Dodd and Biden?

I saw him at Coe College in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday night and it took him 45 minutes to state all of the things he would accomplish in his first six days.

24. Ask him his views on executive privelige and habeas corpus...
Ask what he'll do about the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, etc., and whether he feels that warrantless surveillance and indefinite detention without a trial are acceptable tools for law enforcement.

And you'd do well to lay off the anti-gun crap. Gun control is a poison pill for Democrats, and has been ever since the party lost both houses of Congress to the GOP in '94 because of the "assault weapons" ban.

25. Thanks I know
Every now and again my conscience pops up and gets me going about guns.

Since we Democrats never let our conscience rule I'll just drop it and move on.

Heck, I might even pick up some protection against the republican mobs when they refuse to let Hillary take office.
