What about the subject of our water being sold to the world for profit?
I know Dennis Kucinich wants free water for all and disapproves of privitization of water systems for profit.

What about the other candidates? I have not heard anything.

They could drain down Lake Michigan, etc. http://www.citizen.org/cmep/Water/us/

1. Water, like medical care, is just another commercial product

America means you have the freedom to earn all the money you want to purchase these and other commercial products.

3. Water has been being sold for some time now.
I'm not trying to excuse it - it just is. One of the reasons I refuse to buy the bottled waters on the market - who owns water? Who has the right to sell it? Will we start seeing ponds, etc. built to "catch or grow" water for sale?

5. we'll begin to care
a lot more within the next 20 years.

Look for us to attempt to reclaim our acid rain from Canadian lakes.

6. This is a vitally important issue in developing nations.
For the cost of Mr. Bush's war, we could have provided potable water for every person on the planet without it. Potable water---human rights don't get much more basic than that.

7. Water as a Human Right
http://www.kucinich.us/issues/water.php

Water as a Human Right: Ten Principles

1. All water shall be considered to be forever in the public domain.

2. It shall be the duty of each nation to provide accessible, affordable drinking water to its peoples.

3. There shall be public ownership of drinking water systems, subject to municipal control.

4. Wealthy nations shall provide poor nations with the means to obtain water for survival.

5. Water shall be protected from commoditization and exempted from all trade agreements.

6. Water privatization shall not be a condition of debt restructuring, loan renewal or loan forgiveness.

7. Governments shall use their powers to prevent private aggregation of water rights.

8. Water shall be conserved through sustainable agriculture and encouraging plant-based diets.

9. Water resources shall be protected from pollution.

10. Our children should be educated about the essential nature of water for maintaining life.
