Try to remember who gets hurt by these people.

It's your gay kid, struggling to come out in college in Kansas.

It's your lesbian sister and her partner, in Missouri, who have been together for 12 years and don't have any of the rights and privileges of marriage that their thrice married and divorced straight siblings do.

It's your best friend, who was fired from a job in South Carolina, because the boss hates gay guys - and he has no legal recourse.

It's the old guy down the street in Texas, who's house gets vandalized, because little kids are taught to be viciously homophobic by their parents.

It's anyone living under the bigoted repression of these monsters who not only deny gays and lesbians equal citizenry in the United States, but would also seek to deny them their humanity.

Yes, it's about Republican hypocrisy, and we can all be glad when another one of them is exposed and it does provide fodder for humor.

But, it's a real tragedy that is ongoing every day in this country. The people who are denied their constitutional rights by Larry Craig and his ilk, are the ones who deserve to be the angriest.

I didn’t see the need to comment in this thread, but since I assume you are calling me out I will now respond. Once this thread was posted I refrained from commenting in the two threads I posted yesterday out of respect for those who were offended and this thread was a wake up call. My posting in this thread would have just exasperated the situation.

While I feel my threads were not offensive, its hard to argue that point with the offended and I felt the best thing I could do is not attempt to defend myself. My right to make what I felt was not offensive jokes, IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN NOT OFFENDING SOMEONE. As an African American male I know this, there are many things I find offensive that many people don't believe are offensive. I didn't see the point of trying to convince someone not to be offended, I don't like it when its done to me and I should not do it to others.

The two threads I posted yesterday have since been removed by the mods/administrators. Both threads were intended to mock the hypocrisy of the Republicans and I stated that in each one, there was no homophobic intent.

In the first thread I joked that the reason the Republicans impeached Clinton was because they were jealous that Clinton chose Lewinsky over them. The second thread was a video of kid lip-synching to Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out” and I jokingly said that it was video posted by Larry Craig.

In neither thread did I make comments that I thought anyone would be interpreted as homophobic.

While my threads were removed the following threads are still on DU and not even locked

The tone of these threads WHICH ARE NOT EVEN LOCKED, LET ALONE REMOVED, are no different than the tone of my threads. Unfortunately we cannot make a comparison because mine were locked. Since some DUers raised objections to my threads I can accept the fact that they were removed, but I am troubled by what I feel to be a lack of consistency in choosing which threads on the subject are offensive and which are not.

He was charged with "disorderly conduct of a sexual nature" for peeking into an occupied bathroom stall. Essentially, he was a charged with being a "Peeping Tom".

This is substantially worse than the stereotype construction worker shouting out lewd comments to female passersby which falls under the same law (yes, you CAN bring charges against these guys if their comments are crude enough).
