Now that Gonzo is gonzo, will Senate Dems show spine?
This is their big chance. Barring a recess appointment, *'s nominee to replace him will have to be confirmed by the Senate. Here's how I think it should play out.

Before * even has a chance to name a successor, Senator Leahy should pay him a visit.

"Mr. President, many of your current and former staffers appear to be in contempt of Congress for their refusal to answer our subpoenas. Former Attorney General Gonzales also appears to have committed perjury before Congressional committees. If you want your next nominee for Attorney General to be confirmed by the Senate, the nomination will need to be approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which I am chair. I will not hold hearings for this nominee until Harriet Meiers, Karl Rove and others agree to appear before the relevant committees and testify under oath. The ball is in your court, Mr. President."
