Should the Democratic nominee campaign for Congressional candidates...
Or should he not bother to expend his resources?

1. depends who the nominee is..
this is one advantage Edwards would have and I am a Kerry supporter. Edwards could campaign for northern and southern candidates. I don't think Kerry could help those in the south..Perhaps if Edwards was VP he could do that.

2. Well.. Dean is not the official nominee, yet ..
but he has already helped support other Democratic candidates. Since his resources are his supporters, he doens't lose anything by sharing. In fact, by giving us the opportunity to support other progressive candidates, he helps all of us. win/win .. what a concept.

3. With Republicans controlling Congress
he won't have a choice if he wants to achieve anything.

6. Kenneth Gray (IL-22, formerly) is!
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 04:22 PM by Cuban_Liberal
He's coming out of retirement to help IL Democratic Congressional candidates, and has pledged to use up to $500K of his own money to help elect them. (No link---just heard it on the radio a bit ago).

He's the Conressman who made famous the saying (mistakenly attributed to others) "It's pork if it's in your district---it's BACON if it's in mine!".

Go, KEN!

5. A new congress
with a new president we the people could rid this country of the virus that has infected our people for the past six years. With a democratic president and congress,we could change the make up of the supreme court, stop the madness of world conquest that the boy king has in mind for him and his cronies.Restore sanity to the insane policies of this administration.

7. This isn't a "should" question. The question is will the congressperson
ask for help?

All congresspeople benefit from campaigning with the person on the top of the ticket IF that person at the top is liked by their community.

I think a lot of congresspeople in the south would say no thank you to campaign appearances with Kerry. However, I can't imagine a congressperson anywhere who wouldn't want to have an event with Edwards.

Also, the presidential nominee always benefits from having a local machine on his or her side.

8. Depends on nominee and which region
If we get Kerry, he should stay away from most of the South.
