calling, the negative diatribes, the blatant as well as the thinly veiled attacks?
It is not difficult to understand that no one brought another to a a particular Point of View by belittling them, demeaning what they think or by just plain being acidic. These are tactics used by bullies and individuals that can't really come up w/positives on their own.
It can be tough, but it is far better to ignore those that insist on such tactics, as opposed to fueling the fire they wish to expand.
Much of the "discussion" has come to the point of face slapping and shin kicks. To be honest, none of the candidates have leaped off the bandwagon and have stood out as near as I can figure. so until someone does, I'm just going to wait.
What I have seen by this absurdly long and tedious campaign season, is that this community has been sliced and diced into "camps", many of which most would like to avoid at any cost. So how to deal with this? There are several options...:)
You can place a member whom you find disagreeable on "Ignore".
You can avoid clicking on a thread you feel will be contentious.
After clicking on a thread that has become as hot as the inside of a star, you can realize you don't "have to" post in it. You can simply walk away, thereby avoiding being scorched by the flames that seem ot be inevitable in these threads.
Discussion is a necessary part of every piece of the political puzzle, but derision never accomplished anything other than bad feelings and a divided camp, two things that are difficult reclaim once they have taken hold.
Thanks for reading this, and for contributing to the extended family known as DU.
