Given that both are under secret service protection he should expect a visit, afterall that what they would do if someone did the same shit towards Bush. Also, I expect the press to ask the GOP candidates whether or not they agree with Nugent.

He is a sick bastard.

1. Think he'll get the same treatment as the Dixie Chicks?
His career is RUINED! Just like Ann Coulter's!

7. He has a career?
He's a good guitar player, but I wouldn't see one of his shows or buy an album if it were a penny.

2. The same way Coulter got a visit when she said she
wished that Edwards would be killed in a terrorist plot? Don't hold your breath. Those rules don't count for everybody.

3. Yikes!
That was subtle and understated. Was he trying to convey to the audience that he doesn't like Barack and Hillary?

4. He'll get the same treatment as any other person who threatens a liberal
adulation and a Faux News show ...

Now, if he made a joke in a bar about a "burning bush" ... he'd be in Gitmo now, and not just playing guitar for the guards ...

6. Hillary and Barack have a lousy stance on guns
And there is a fair amount of both fear and anger floating around out there towards them about it. Feinstein and a few others, too.

Having said that...

Nugent's 'performance' (and I use the term loosely) sums up quite nicely how NOT to have an intelligent debate or effective policy change.

The Brady campaign's stance on the type of rifles Nugent displayed is irrational and a blatant publicity stunt. However, compared to Nugent's response, it is the epitome of reason.

<sigh>

9. Nugent is taking a tired & stale path: trying to be politically incorrect.
to show how rebellious he is. It'll get him so attention and more T.V. time in a society so sick with celebrity that it will make any loudmouth with a few connections into a star.

And really: isn't this bad boy rebelliousness getting old as a template for what's hep cat? Doesn't everybody by now have tattoos and hardware hanging from challenging body sites? Maybe some young women get off to this, but he's about as old as I am. Phew!

10. 90% of the country supports regulation
And support the Brady Bill. You join Ted Nugent if you think there's a reasonable 'side' against responsible gun regulation. You're in a tiny minority, you really are.

12. We're not talking about the Brady Bill...
...we're talking about legislation to outlaw rifles that have legally been in the hands of law-abiding American citizens for over a hundred years.

Responsible gun legislation means not penalizing gun owners just for obeying the law. :hi:

13. The Brady bill is still in force
And tell me, sandandsea, considering how well the MSM has done informing the public about:

the 2000 election
the 2004 election
the US attorney scandal
voter fraud vs. election fraud
signing statements
Iraq
Iran
Afghanistan
Al Qaeda in iraq
Al Qaeda In Iraq
Iranian vs. Saudi influance in Iraq
the Patriot Act
"the liberal media"
Terrorist Surveillence Program
caging lists
etc., etc., etc.,

what makes you think the fact that "90% of the country supports regulation" carries much weight?

And what does that mean, exactly? That they support the concept of the regulation of firearms?

Well, hell's bells, then I'm with the majority, because I want firearms regulated as well!

Or does it mean they want regulation that keeps guns out of the hands of criminals? Because if it does, then once again I'm with the majority.

The fundamental problem here is that ideas are being posed by people who want to regulate firearms but do not know ABOUT them (Congresswoman McCarthy comes to mind). So they wind up coming up with all kinds of weird and somewhat naive ideas, become emotionally and politically attached to them, and won't let them go.

Seriously, how many times has a person in favor of more gun control regulations actually asked someone knowledgable about guns "Will this work?"

Far more often, it goes something like "This is my idea to control guns, and it will work, and if you disagree you want the streets to run red with blood", followed by arguments quoting numbers and statistics and accusations about phallic insecurity.

Try this: go into the Gungeon and start a post that goes something like this: "Experienced and knowledgeable gun owners, what ideas do you have to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, to reduce gun violence and gun deaths, that would work with a minimum of interference and inconvience to honest citizens?"

You might be surprised at the answers.
