stop with all the moronic polls already
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 01:49 PM by welshTerrier2
did you ever notice that certain candidate supporters, especially certain candidate supporters of a certain candidate, keep posting poll after poll after poll but never seem to discuss the issues? perhaps we should do a DU poll about whether to have the polls posted in a new group for useless polling information.

when we focus more on the horserace than on our values and the policies that support them, what hope for a better future can there possibly be?

consider this:

source: http://www.politicalwire.com/

James Pindell found a peculiar result to a question in a new poll of likely primary and caucus voter in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada. Likely GOP voters were asked how familiar they were the healthcare plans of all their candidates, "even including non-candidate Fred Thompson."

"The results? In Nevada 29% said they were familiar with Thompson's healthcare plan. In New Hampshire it was 15%, in Iowa 18%, in Florida it was 22% and in South Carolina had 24% with some idea about his plan."

The problem? Thompson hasn't even discussed a healthcare plan yet.

Here's how discussion of issues happens on DU:

First, someone (like you) determines which position on an issue is "progressive" or rightwing. Then that person chastises anyone who takes the "rightwing" position. When that someone defends that pre-determined "rightwing" position, they're "repub lite" or "DINO" or some other nonsense.

"Why is such and such position rightwing?"

DLC!!!

"uh... well... ______ and ______ took that position. Are they rightwing?"

DLC! YOU FUCKIN' TOOK THAT OUT OF CONTEXT!!!

"Let's lay out ________'s positions on the issues and _________'s and see how they compare"

YOUR'RE BEING OBTUSE!

You can dish it out but can't take it? That's another mark of political dogma. Since you're already so sure you have a lock on the truth, personal insults become truth-telling. Retaliation becomes attacks.

17. You missed the point
I said nothing about your political position. I merely noted that your post was unintentionally ironic. Your dogma ate your post.

2. I'm hoping that the polling will increase to the point that I can be filling them out nonstop.
Click. Read. Vote. Exit.
Click. Read. Vote. Exit.

Right now, we're going at about one per hour, and that's just too damned slow.

MORE POLLS!

6. i despise polls.
politics by numbers accomplishes nothing.

polls are a propaganda tool.

and when talking of the voting populace, they shouldn't be relied upon.

50% of the electorate doesn't vote.

we can't get them to the voting booth but we can determine their position on a certain issue, or the candidate they favor most...yeah right!

I'm sorry I missed those. What were the categories?

1) Fundamentalist Morons
2) Corporate Morons
3) Redneck Morons
4) Morons who don't pick the same candidate as me
5) Morons who post polls.

:)
