Kerry, Kucinich in Dayton this week
Democrats looking to Super Tuesday

Monday, February 16, 2004

DAYTON -- Democratic presidential front-runner Sen. John Kerry will speak with a group of laid-off auto workers in Dayton on Wednesday as part of his first swing through Ohio, leading up to the presidential primary March 2.

The Massachusetts Democrat is speaking at United Auto Workers Local 696 union hall on Alwildy Avenue to workers from Dayton-area Delphi plants. He has no public events scheduled.

"With high unemployment and a declining manufacturing base, Ohio embodies the president's failed economic policies," said a statement issued by Kerry's campaign. "Ohio has lost 153,000 manufacturing jobs since President Bush took office, and nearly one in 10 Ohio counties have unemployment above 9 percent."

U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Cleveland, will also be in the Dayton area Wednesday. He is speaking at a public forum in the University of Dayton's Jesse Philips Humanities building at noon and then makes two stops in Yellow Springs: 2 p.m. at the Epic Book Shop, 118 Dayton St., and 2:45 p.m. at a student rally at Yellow Springs High School.
