Bush closes another Minnesota Freeway
As if it wasn't bad enough that 35W was closed due to the bridge collapse in Minnesota, Bush flies in for a fund raiser and closes 494 westbound during rush hour. Where do they get off thinking its ok to close the whole freeway just so his limo can drive through?

1. Another act of sheer stupidity...
THAT might well piss off a lot of people who otherwise haven't been paying attention.

Smooth move on his part. NOT!

2. They closed off the freeway bridges, too.
You couldn't even cross over 494, let alone drive on it.

Thanks, asshole.

6. interesting question
never really thought about it before.

The SS has policies and practices designed to protect their charge. But do they have absolute authority to dictate everything anywhere, any time? Or is it an "emphatic request?" There have been many cases of totally screwing over traffic in a major city at rush hour. He uses that as his excuse, by the way, for not attending soldier's funerals.

What if the local mayor/cops just said "no" - said "sorry, Charlie, come at off hours or don't come" ?

Of course it would be a big PR pissing contest, but does he necessarily win? Of course they would have to expect retribution - cutting of federal funds, no doubt.

7. He'll be here in KC tomorrow
Can't wait. :puke:

When he was here last year, every motorcycle cop on the KCMO police force was on bush duty. There were at least 12 cop cars in his parade and about 6 black SUVs. They closed down the route from the airport to the place where he appeared. And it was rush hour.

8. Why in the hell does he get to use air force one to fly to
republican fund raisers. THAT'S OUR DAMN MONEY. And he is raising money for that diphead coleman.

Remember the uproar the republicans in congress, rush, drudge, malkin and fox had when Nancy Pelosi was given a larger airplane to travel to her home but security.....
