Reagan Diaries: George W: "Find the Kid a Job"...
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=6580

Direct quote from the just published REAGAN DIARIES.

The entry is dated May 17, 1986.

'A moment I've been dreading. George brought his ne're-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.'

This makes me sick.

1. Wouldn't this be proof
that reagan was not, in fact, senile?

3. Heh, good one.
Please note, folks, this is a parody. Ronald Reagan never made job recommendations (he had people to do that thinking stuff for him) and certainly pulled no weight with the neolibs at TNR.

4. This makes me smell bullshit.
That's a fairly untrustworthy Web site (The New Republic is moreso, but I haven't seen an actual link to the TNR story yet, just links to globalresearch.ca).

That, together with the fact that Jeb Bush could hardly be considered more of a political animal than George in 1986 (George had run for office by then -- Jeb was still in banking and had zero political experience, except for working on his father's 1980 presidential campaign), makes me doubt the veracity of this. Of course, if it's actually in the Reagan diaries, it'll be more widely reported before too long.

7. well, if the Reagan diaries were just published
it shouldn't be too difficult to verify this... a trip to the bookstore ought to do it.

5. at the time, the new Republic was publishing articles advocating arming Saddam in Iraq.
actually, a year later, but it was in that same era (error?)

W. Bush would have fit right in.
