Edwards' populist America
Edwards' populist America

Ignoring media indifference to drive Dem debate

==But it's shortsighted to discount Edwards until the voters begin to speak. Despite all the media huffing and puffing about poll numbers, they are mostly meaningless cocktail party chatter material today.==

=Bonier, the former longtime congressman from Michigan and Edwards' campaign manager, was drawn to Edwards because he was talking with conviction about "economic and social justice and workers' rights."

Edwards' populist street credibility was highlighted in a recent Rolling Stone article that called Edwards "The Real Liberal" who has been "flying below the radar" to set himself as a viable progressive candidate who can whip the GOP nominee — and one who has a major asset in his wife Elizabeth (who has emerged as a major, take-down voice in her own right.)

More importantly, a case can be made that Edwards has been driving and driving hard the domestic debate among the Democratic candidates. He led the health-care reform charge (including saying how to pay for it by rolling back Bush administration tax cuts for the wealthy), spoke out earlier than most against predatory lending, and has been one of the few to call for a carbon emission cap — and sell off the right to emit carbon gases and use the money for alternative energy development.==

4. Completely agree. That is easy choice, too.
Populism versus triangulating for the DLC? Easy for me.

7. I've come around to Edwards
Not sure what was holding me back, but I have been holding back on any candidate.

I read a lot on DU this weekend, I also read that great RS article, and Edwards clearly seems to be the most liberal (closest to my own views) candidate.

I also believe he can win, despite the media declaring Hillary the winner already. Hillary is a Democrat, and not a bad one, I will support her if she gets the nom, but John Edwards is -- surprisingly to me -- the best choice for a liberal like me.

And I agree that he is very electable. He's experienced, polished, appealing and a great speaker.

What I don't get is why he's not more popular on DU?
