Candy Crowely now attacking Kerry for Viet Nam
I'm going to post this and then change my avatar to Kerry. She just highlighted how Kerry protested the war after returning from duty. She's evil, biased, and she tipped how Repubs will portray Kerry. Let's discuss AWOL's service. No matter, I'm not willing for another right wing shill to attack my party. I love what Kerry did after Viet Nam and I honor him for it.

1. There's a letter in Monday's NYTimes calling Kerry a 'double hero'
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 10:35 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
To the Editor:

If Robert McNamara is able to come to the realization — decades too late — that the Vietnam War was a terrible wrong, why must "conservatives" attack those who knew it was wrong at the time and acted on their conscience ("Conservatives Shine Spotlight on Kerry's Antiwar Record," news article, Feb. 13)?

Mr. Kerry is a double hero for having gone to Vietnam, learned from that experience and then opposed the war — not to discredit his fellow soldiers, but to save their lives.

2. I think Kerry risked his life in Vietnam and then came home and
risked his reputation fighting against the war. I think he stood on principle serving his country both times. Neither was popular at the time.

Screw Candy Crowley and the republicans.

3. My father-in-law..
who served during Vietnam told me he thinks that's the most legitimate type of protest - having served and then coming back and speaking out about your experience.

4. The hack job that was just done on CNN?
She used his Senate testimony out of context and showed the Dick Cavett interview with the vet's accusation against Kerry without showing Kerry's response.

Shoddy reporting.

22. Now now let's not do personal attacks, we have plenty ammo to
attack on issues. It is childish and immature to attack someone based on their physical profile. I am sure you are no Robert Redford
yourself.

11. can anyone explain this ?
it seems much is made of people who serve but later protest the war they served in. they see it as a conflict which explains cnn's kerry v. kerry title during this segment.

how come they don't talk about the coflict of people who are huge supporters of war, but don't serve in it themselves ? like bush. why not talk about the bush who supports war and the bush who didn't even serve in it ?

and this isn't just about kerry and bush. but overall, isn't this what seems to be the accepted thinking ? that there is a problem with those who serve and then speak out against it, but nothing is made of the chickenhawks ?

I've been complaining to CNN since 2000 about Crowley's right-wing bias. I knew it was the kiss of death for the Dean campaign when she was assigned to Dean.

The woman is a mindless hack of the Republican National Committee, and doesn't try to hide it.

27. Chickenhawks behind women's skirts
Let's see. Ann Coulter, Mona Charen, Candy Crowley and another one I forget, but ALL female GOP gasbags. Does this mean what i think it does? That the word is out for women to attack the war hero because the chickenhawk corps can't?

It seems very clear who has gotten the current marching orders and why and it should be pointed out with as much loud derision as is fitting.

34. I saw the CC piece this morning...
I didn't realize it had already aired and made the BIG mistake of posting about it in GD... sucker got locked. Anyway, thinking it was a new piece this is what I had to say about it:
-------------------------------
Candy Crowly does Hatchet Job on Kerry....

You should have seen this piece. It was just incredible. She basically accused Kerry of being a waffler, untrustworthy, unreliable, not an honorable man, ad inifinitum. She discussed every negative thing she could think of... from his throwing "his" medals (she quickly points out they were not his) over the white house wall to his describing the atrocities of some soldiers in the Vietnam war.

This was the most blatant and disgusting display of partisanship by a "journalist" I have EVER witnessed. The woman needs to be fired. If someone comes up with a transcript or video of this segment, please post it. It was simply breathtaking and utterly repulsive.

If anyone else saw this, please add your comments about what you saw. I am just reeling from this and cannot think of all the crap she spewed, but I do know it was a completely negative review from top to bottom.

33. If Crowley is going to cover Kerry, and he is the nominee,
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 09:01 AM by DeepModem Mom
we (DNC, Kerry campaign, individual Democrats) have got to take her on, and let CNN know that her coverage of Democratic candidates is unacceptable. We shouldn't allow her to take our candidate down the same road that she took Al Gore....

On edit: Just spoke to CNN viewer comment representative, and said that Dems would not stand still this time, and let CC do what she did to Al Gore. Said there would be picketers at their doors, and, worse, thousands of Dems changing their channels. Said that her coverage of Dem candidates is unacceptable from a news organization that represents itself as fair and responsible.

35. well done
It isn't enough to complain about Crowley here - we have to FLOOD CNN with complaints before they assign her to either Kerry or Bush.

In 2000, when she traveled with Bush, her reports were major barf-fests. I can still see her standing on an airport tarmac, mic in hand, whispering reverently like she's in a friggin' church about her man-idol GWB. When she traveled with Gore, she'd roll her eyes and mock everything he said.

No doubt she's just satisfying the corporate needs of her AOL/Time Warner masters, but we need to be raising hell every damn day.
