Barack Obama would post all non-emergency bills online for 5 days
(Sorry if this has already been discussed)

Republicans thrive on pushing bills through Congress BEFORE they can be COMPLETELY READ and/or discussed....that is how their "little surprises" quickly become law.

"To aid accountability, Obama said he would post all non-emergency bills online for five days before he signed them into law, allowing Americans a chance to weigh in on the legislation..."

Makes sense to me.

2. Yes, maybe they would be motivated to read their own legislation....
after their constituents HAVE read it online.

3. That is a very cool idea!

I suppose one could argue that the info is available via thomas.loc.gov, but I find the site to be pretty user-unfriendly unless you're looking for something specific and have some details already in hand.

Obama's idea sounds like: "Here's what's on my desk right now -- check it out."

Interesting!
