2. The GOP thinks his voice is dreamy and makes him authoritarian.
Funny how the fact that he is a Hollywood actor seems to slip through the cracks.

6. Who cares what he looks like?
Unless you believe we should elect presidents based on looks, I'm not sure why you'd feel this is appropriate.

16. His young wife keeps him young?
A younger spouse will help you maintain a younger
attitude on life and health. Ask me, my wife is 14
years younger than me :7

11. I know. My ex-boss thinks F*T would be a great candidate.
All of the Democratic candidates are good looking -- every one of them. They say that your looks reflect your character after 40. Well, assuming that is true, I would not trust F*T.

I would not normally vote based on looks, and I realize this is very shallow of me, but I agree with you. He is beyond off the ugly charts. To have to watch him on TV would be a punishment. His ugliness kind of fits with his tough guy role on Law & Order, but as president, no. Unfortunately for him, looks count. Please note that, in spite of the prevalence of obesity in our country, none of the Democratic candidates are morbidly obese. None of them have Fred Thompson's ape-like posture. The Democrats would have to have amazing qualities in other areas if they were. F*T looks and sounds like a grumpy old ape-man.

Actually, maybe the Republican Party is experiencing its own sort of counter-evolution: from Bush, a chimp to F*T., an ape. I don't think F*T is what Americans want.

Giuliani is bad enough. But F*T. No way. Face it. The Republicans just do not have an electable candidate.

Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 09:30 PM by Godlesscommieprevert
He's in remission from lymphoma - a very nasty, usually terminal disease. If I were a repuke, I'd think more than twice about voting for him.

edited for grammar

19. And pay attention to whom he would most likely choose as VP...
Would the VP choice be like Lincoln's Andrew Johnson, or like FDR's Truman...Maybe JFK's Lyndon Johnson? I have serious doubts that another TR would be chosen for this style of GOP.

With the exception of A. Johnson, we've been kind of lucky. As for A. Johnson, the Radical Republicans did him in because they thought he wasn't "tough enough on those damned rebels". Little did the RR's know that Lincoln's plan for reconstruction was to essentially rebuild the South using Northern resources, and basically forgive/forget what had happened for 4 years. Take an oath to the Constitution, forgiveness is at hand.

More often than not, the choice for VP has become an issue, especially when there are underlying concerns about the mortality of the presidential nominee. Lymphoma can go into remission, but like most cancers, remission is not "cured".
