Republicans for Hilary?!?
GOP launches risky venture in effort to energize party activists

Updated: 12:57 p.m. ET Aug 16, 2007

WASHINGTON - Is the vast right-wing conspiracy trying to help Hillary Rodham Clinton win the Democratic nomination?

Leading her Democratic rivals by double digits in recent national polls, Clinton's campaign has benefited from several key factors over the past seven months: strong performances at debates, stumbles by rivals and solid fundraising. Recently, however, she's drawing a bounce from an unlikely source: conservative Republicans, whose fears of a Democratic takeover are forcing them to mount a risky venture.

1. Republicans for OBAMA, too.
http://www.republicansforobama.org/?q=homepage

RepublicansforObama.org is an organization founded by proud party members who all share one important trait— we are Americans first and Republicans second. (Even if it is a close second.) Collectively, we have campaigned, worked for, and voted Republican all our lives, but recognize that our Country needs a new kind of leader at this time. While there will always be important issues on which thoughtful Americans will disagree, there are others that cannot be up for debate— our economic prosperity and our standing in the world.

While a growing number of our elected officials and media outlets use wedge issues to purposely divide us, and answer to special interest groups at the expense of the general welfare, Senator Obama has the ability to break this trend. Senator Obama has rejected the politics of division and the win-at-all-costs attitude that has hurt our ability to move forward as a nation. While we as Republicans will not always see eye to eye with a President Obama, we know that his politics of competency and unity will lead to a stronger America.

they don't want him to be the Dem. nominee so the Repubs. can beat him.

3. Unfortunately, it's a far too vomitous exercise for our side to respond in kind.
And, yes, the GOP knows this.

6. And guess what--Republicans for EDWARDS, too!!!
http://www.gop4jre.com/

About GOP 4 JRE

I am certain people will ask, why in the world is a Conservative Republican supporting Democrat John Edwards for President? That is simple for me to answer. We need, this country needs someone who came from nothing and succeeded on the strength of dedication and hardwork. We need someone who understands what we as middle income Americans endure each day, the struggles to support our families, the concerns we have for the future, the concern we have for homeland security, for terrorist threats and for the economic and moral health of this country. I am convinced that John Edwards is that someone. You hear him speak and can sense the genuine concern he has for his family, his neigbors, for all of us. You can see the true love he has for his family and his country. And, you can see the spirit and enthusiasm he has to move this country forward, that he understands the greatness of its people and its rich history as well as its future. Yes, there is a simple reason why I a Conservative Republican supports John Edwards, he gets it, he understands the big picture and he wants to fight for all of us. I in turn want to fight to make him President! Please join this group, and, this cause. Lets elect John Edwards the next President of The United States!

7. That's right-the RNC wants HRC just like they wanted Ralph Nader...
it's NOT to be president, but to be the nominee that the Repub. can run against and win.

10. That;s one theory...that he can ensure she becomes the Dem. nominee
by no longer having to speak for the admin. as he elevates Hillary by constantly engaging her in arguments.

12. The Corporate Controlled Media has been forcing HRC down our throats for a year.
I believe that we need HRC just as much as we need any other DLC Corporatist.
That is to say NOT AT ALL.

The radical Reich AKA Rupert Murdock gave her a fundraiser.
The Old line Democratic Machine is in favor of her.

The reason the GOP wants her to be nominated is that even if she wins WE LOSE

14. Did you read the article? These Repubs. won't vote for Hillary in the general...
from the article:

"Divided and discouraged by a GOP field they view as lackluster, they've concluded that the best way to energize party activists, hold the White House and, possibly, return to power on Capitol Hill, is to help Clinton secure the Democratic nod and become her party's most dominant voice."

18. The article didn;t even make the case it was purporting to make.,..
Strung together instance of Republican criticism of Hillary to posit a conspiracy, with no evidence other than Republicans are criticizing her...

19. Actually
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 04:42 AM by JTFrog
it kind of states the opposite. They quote Perino criticizing her, but then you've got Rove and Limbaugh kind of praising her and pushing her nomination. There was no mention of your tweeties and other pundits out there telling us she's the Queen, but that would have been a nice touch. They also quote a chairman of the Democratic party talking about how unpopular she is in red states and the likelihood of her driving republicans to the polls to vote against her.

I agree the article seems hastily put together and they could have put in so much more to back up the theory. It's not a theory that I find hard to believe.
