I am not swallowing this at face value! It seems to me that there is something else going on here that we are not privy to...

1. to me he just doesn't want his legacy to be tied to the big Dem sweep in 2008
He'll say "gee whiz, I quit a year before that election, so clearly it wasn't my fault!"

3. The media is completely refusing to speculate.
Whatever reporters privately think, there's a wall to wall blockade on any speculation that might seem disrespectful of power.

4. Several DUers have speculated......
that Karl Rove is the BIG politico that was caught up Larry Flynt's hypocracy net...............

Also, it's been speculated that Jack Abramoff has spilled the beans about some of Karl Rove's doings........

7. he is getting out before the economy tanks
Doesn't anyone else see the strange "coincidence" of Dick Cheney taking his assets out of the U.S. and Rove resigning as mighty strange?

I hate to be right about these things, but when the economy takes the final tumble and fall, these guys will be gone daddy gone, with their money in hand.

9. So he can manipulate California's electoral vote...siphoning off
at least 20 for the next Repug candidate for President, thereby ensuring that a Repug replaces Bush.

Rove met with Mr. Steroid and Ken Lay before the lights flickered in California and a "recall" was "demanded." Mr. Steroid couldn't survive a regular election cycle. As it was, the L.A. Times exposed his extensive groping of women just prior to the "recall" election farce.

Out-of-state paid workers collected enough signatures such as Mickey Mouse to place a recall initiative on the ballot. California had a recently elected governor, and now it had to spend millions to have another election.

I almost choked when I heard that the Repugs were paying for a ballot initiative to split electoral votes in California along Congressional District lines. Pure Rove I thought.

10. He's leaving the lame duck to help the new ducks get elected.
He's the king of cheating, lying, breaking the law and stealing elections - how else would they hope to get elected?
