**A weekend with Dennis Kucinich**
I was privileged to hear him speak this weekend at two different venues...

The California Democratic Council on Saturday:

At a private home on Sunday:

And with his lovely and intelligent wife, Elizabeth...

It was an exhausting but fun weekend!

The convention was good, what I saw of it...

I signed up to volunteer Saturday...

Alas, I didn't get to see Edwards...Friday and Sunday were impossible for me...

Glad you like my pics!

8. Fantastic!
Your pictures really show something else as well that I've observed about Kucinich. The first two, he's sort of on enemy territory. The face is somewhat tense. He's forceful. The third one shows how he is among friends and fellow liberals. All the tension goes out of his face. They say he's not a very attractive man, but when you're in a room of like minded people with him, he seems to me a very attractive and charming person. I experienced this once before I started to work for him.

That's a very good observation...

I hadn't actually picked up on it...

But you're correct...

He was clearly at ease in the garden setting...very responsive to the group assembled there...

He's an excellent speaker too!

13. My dear Double T!
What will it take?

VOTES!

And all the things it takes to get the vote out...money, volunteers to get out the vote, community involvement and like that!

We need to figure it out.......and then implement it!

14. I love Dennis Kucinich
Thanks for the pics and your report from California. Dennis is the best guy we've got currently in the race. Now if we can just win him a few primaries!

If Bobby Kennedy Jr. should throw his hat into the ring, I'd love to see them team up. A Kennedy/Kucinich (or Kucinich/Kennedy) ticket would make me very happy!:)

39. K&R for the one candidate that speaks and fights for the working class
Dennis was my candidate in '04 and he is my candidate now. Dennis never engages in obfuscations, vacillations, or triangulations. What you see is what you get.

Choosing a President is NOT voting for an American Idol.

52. Needless to say, my dear CalPeg ...
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 12:34 AM by NanceGreggs
... your photographs are as beautiful as they are insightful in capturing the essence of the man.

Also needless to say, if we voted for First Lady (and whoever she happened to be married to became president), there's no doubt as to who would be ahead in every poll!

I absolutely adore Dennis Kucinich, and everything he stands for - but now I want to say something that will be less than popular with some of my fellow DUers - but please hear me out.

For a myriad of reasons (none of them truly valid in the great scheme of things, but there nonetheless), I doubt that DK can win the presidency.

That being said, I believe his candidacy is all-important.

Kucinich is too smart to simply regurgitate polished talking points; he is simply smart enough to speak the unvarnished truth.

Kucinich doesn't pretend to know ALL of the answers; but he does KNOW what questions should be asked about where this country is going, and how it needs to be put back on track.

Kucinich doesn't challenge the "other side" to respond; he challenges OUR side to speak to the real issues.

Kucinich isn't interested in what will cause the party to do well; he's interested in what will cause the country to do well.

Kucinich isn't impressed by power and influence; he is impressed by how power and influence can be utilized to effect change for the better.

Kucinich is intelligent enough to realize that understanding leads to peace, and peace leads to prosperity for everyone.

By doing and being all of the above, it is Dennis Kucinich who raises the bar when it comes to the type of leadership this country should be looking for. He makes voters THINK about the possibilities, and thereby challenges the other candidates, on BOTH sides, to THINK about them as well.

No matter who "wins" in 2008, Kucinich will ALWAYS be the real hero of the 2008 campaign.

And if he DOES win the presidency, no one will be more delighted to admit they were wrong in saying it couldn't be done than ME!
