I fugured out what's driving the freepers nuts
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 06:38 PM by sgr2
It's really rather simple, or complicated, depending on how you look at it. I figured it out while I was talking to an old friend of mine today. I don't see him very often, and I know he was raised in a very Republican family so I asked him what he thought of Bush's troubles. He calmly said that we were ought to destroy Bush and we wouldn't stop until we were done.

I said, "Well, yeah."

And he said, "since when did you liberals get so damn aggressive. We're the ones supposed to be attacking you, not the other way around."

And that my friends is what's driving them nuts. For 10 years they sat back and bitched and moaned and attacked Bill Clinton. Before that they were bashing liberalism, and tree-huggers, and hippies, and "Welfare Queens." Attack attack attack is all they ever did.

Carter sat back and smiled. He lost.
Mondale sat back and smiled. He lost.
Dukakis put us all to sleep while smiling. He lost.
Finally Carville caught on and went on the offensive. We won.
Bob Dole ran against Clinton in 96 so that doesn't count.
Bush attacked, Gore whimpered.

The moral is this, when we are on the offensive we win. And they know we've got a TON of ammo so they're desperate and they're bewildered.

Attack!

2. Yes, my republican brother is not use to so many attacks against
his party and it is hilarious watching him try to defend his postitions using "Rushspeak". He has been getting very flustered because it is so easy to slam his reasoning.

It is about damn time!

3. You should see the Republicans in my classes
I'm a Political Science major so we talk politics a LOT. THe difference in the conversations now and about a year ago is striking. They're coming to the point where they realize all of their favorite talking points are complete garbage.

7. It is hard to defend a postition based on a lie!
Democrats like the truth, republicans like "catch phrases" and it doesn't matter if there is truth behind what they are saying. I bet you are having a blast these days!:)

4. You're right
And the Newt Gingrich people took the attack to new heights. And with their radio shows, FOX news, etc. they're like an echo chamber.

I believe it was Howard Dean who is most responsible for turning things around. He expressed the anger that the other pols were afaid to touch.

full frontal and direct attack. lay it out for them. don't waffle. don't back down. no apologies in advance. never assume that a talking point is obvious. find a simple direct logic and never back down. the pea brains won't know what to do if they can't bully you. without group think ditto heads are lost.

8. And never never let them frame the argument
Or choose the language.

Reframe, rephrase, attack.

9. this is key
the built in politics of language can cost you an argument before you even start to fight NEVER let them define the terms Reps love to tell you what liberals say and think and what you believe to face. your wrong their right is always the underlying assumption.

10. And we must,
every Dem, every Green, every DUer, must respond strongly to pug attacks with the truth in every newspaper in the country. Every "Letters to the Editor" section of every newspaper and magazine must be filled with our voices.
