As crazy as this sounds, I found myself somewhat saddened by the fact that the Kerry avatars were replacing the Clark ones. I, too, will strongly support Kerry in the GE, but just seeing the "WCD" avatar reminds us all of just how hard we worked, and what a hell of a candidate we did it for.

I have a Mac so your instructions mean nothing to me. I opened a new window - tried copying the link in my profile. Tried copying the gif link - still gave me error. So maybe I got it as a sig - dunno.

In your Profile where the avatars are there is a new link. Instructions are there. You have to follow them and it gives you a number you copy and paste.

My DH uses a mac and he said you just need to click and hold the mouse over the image and then you should get an option menu, which should include a "save image" option. After you save the image to your hard drive, just go to your profile on DU and upload it using their utility. If that doesn't help, PM me and I'll see if DH can help you figure out the problem :-).

I call myself a Wes Clark Democrat, just as how some people call themselves Paul Wellstone Democrats. I believe Wes Clark and us represents something that is not given voice in the party. Republicans have always tried to paint Democrats as being weak on national defense and anti-patriotic anti-american.

Wes Clark Democrats believe in being strong on Nations Security/Defense/Foreign policy AND strong on progressive social values. We believe it's perfectly logical to wave the American Flag while being on the cover of the Advocate. To be patriotic and love our country while loving democracy, the right to dissent.

Although Kerry and others with similar background have tried to fuse military credentials into their platforms, Wes Clark made patriotism a central plank in his platform. It's time we took back the flag. And when asked by Bill Maher if he would avoid the label of "liberal" like Howard Dean, Clark proudly said he was a liberal and that he would embrace that label.

THAT is the antithesis of all the anti-american weak-kneed Dem smearing of the Republicans over the last decades. A patriotic, strong national defense, progressive, flaming liberal. A four star general on the cover of a gay magazine.

It time we took back the flag, and took it back with a vengence and plant if firmly in the progressive/liberal corner. And taking back the flag without compromising our social values is important, otherwise we end up being republican-lite.

I'm signing on to the various and sundry Clark and Kerry/Clark groups. So far, in terms of ease of use, efficiency and speed, this one seems really very good. Not much content yet, it's brand spanking new today, I think, and has few members. It has separate saloons for Kerryites and Clarkies, but the rest of the house is held in common.
