Poll question: Time for a little atonement.
Anonymous poll-style. Most of you know where I'm voting.

...Where's that :sheepish: emoticon?!? :)

6. That's me, I was waiting to pass judgement until more information
became available, but I was nervous that it might be true. I think I was subconciously preparing to be pissed. I am just glad it all turned out good and Kerry can go forth with what's important!

sorry she denied it because I wanted to exploit it whether it was true or not anyway.

9. I cautioned but was very nervous
about the ramifications. It was the day after Clark pulled out and many of us Clarkies couldn't help but dream of a re-entry to save the party. But hte fact is I never saw anything to the story.

Ok I feel a teensy teensy bit guilty...like....well like that. ;)

13. I do recall one lone voice in the wilderness that even asserted 70%
of DUers believed it. Odd, I haven't seen him/her posting on these threads.

Back to the tried and true, I guess: Skull & Bones and Botox.

11. None of those
I didn't believe or disbelieve, I just wanted it to be categorically quashed or confirmed right quick. This election is too important to have some banal media-amplified scandal dogging the presumptive nominee. Lucky me, I got what I wanted.

14. And allow me to go on record as saying I have NO ISSUE with that position
There were many thoughtful posts not wanting to relive history for obvious reasons. I take NO issue with that.

There were far more selling the story. A cursory review of the archives will bear that out.

And yes...lucky for all of us it went your way.

16. I'm with Charlie
I was particularly crapping my pants because I knew that it didn't matter if it was true or not. the big variable was how the mainstream media would handle it. every now & then they do the right thing, i guess.

31. I have to admit - the same reaction
Didn't believe or disbelieve... but had that sense that if not cleared up that it could be deja vous redux (going back to Hart.)

Also sad that given recent history - that it required the type of reaction (words from the woman) to refute which meant that she had to be drug in... that is a sad comment on to where the right, the legacy of the Arkansas Project, and the lazy, "banal" media has drug us.

Glad that it is over. Regretful that she, Sen. Kerry and his family had to be bothered with this.

17. I still waiting for acknowledgment of the Secret Dungeon that Kerry used
Kind of wish some of big corporate ones would have bit, but I guess they knew it would be deep poop if it wasn't true. They were missing their fake evidence (Iraq comes to mind) that they could point to after others found the smear wasn't true.

Bet some had the proverbial itchy finger though. You got to know most of the news directors and print editors are repubs, they would have loved doing that deed, you can bet on it.

22. Thought jumping to immediate defense or falling into panic was
inappropriate. In my mind I felt that the issue was dangerous for everyone if it continued w/o a forceful response. It needed to be addressed head on and it seems to have been; although the allegations were not inconceivable as some seem to say.

Wait a minute, I never bought into this! I'm not sorry for anything!

:P

I waited to see if there was any proof at all other than Drudge and company and there wasn't. And then he denied it. So I knew it was probably BS and said so.

28. I never took it seriously
It was Drudge! :eyes: He's famous for this kind of shit!

None of the mainstream news sources were touching it because they couldn't substantiate the story. And I don't believe in media conspiracy theory crap that the credible news outlets would bury the story just to protect Kerry. That's nonsense. They weren't reporting it because there was no story.

Kerry categorically denied the accusation. I heard it myself. Some people wanted to shit pick over his words and spin a non-denial out of it but it was nevertheless an unequivocal denial. That sealed it for me.

At that point, I didn't believe for one second that if there were ANY truth to that story, that Kerry would categorically deny it, KNOWING that it would eventually come back to haunt him, the rest of us, and certainly the Democratic Party. I don't believe ANY of the candidates would do anything that stupid. Not with so much at risk, and not after what we went through before.

I was sorry to see so many Democrats welcome the rumor with such hope and glee, though.

29. I was intensely skeptical
But don't ever say what a man won't do ......... not when it comes to women. Y'all are not logical creatures in the presence of the right woman whether you have another right woman at home or not.

Doesn't mean that you all succumb every time, but several do.
