I want Gore!!!
Last year I thought we would be stuck with Leiberman! Then I thought it would be Graham or Edwards. I'm with anti wa Dean, but I like Kucinich the best.

Kerry ain't bad; I'd love him if he oppossed Bush on the war.

I can live with Kerry / Clark.

But I want Gore back! Any other draft Gore folks on DU? Any Dean supporters wondering why we lost?

1. I'm wondering where Gore has been throughout Dean's downfall
At least Harkin was with Dean during the "scream" But where's Gore and Bradley? How quickly they've jumped ship. I understand that they could not have predicted Dean going down the drain that quickly but their support would've helped Dean through a difficult time, imo.

2. I don't miss Gore
I like the guy's policies fine but I think he ran a weak campaign in 2000. He lost his home state of TN. He had the momentum of Clinton coming into that race and somehow he managed to blow it.

He had his chance. It seems unlikely he'll get another...at least not until he gains another political office like senator or something.

5. That he did
Despite jeb "promising" that state to his brother. Al did have more votes I think. And had it not been for the butterfly ballot and all those fucking chads, he would've won it clean and gotten the electoral votes.

8. Gore "lost" TN for the same reason he "lost" FL
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 05:44 PM by Progress
Black voters were disenfranchised. TN may have been even worse than FL in that regard. But there were also many other states where black voters were disenfranchised. Do some research.

9. Gore didn't fit the DNC's plans this time.
He was probably told, last year, that party funding and other perks and endorsements would NOT be forthcoming, were he to run again. I guess Dean didn't get that message, or he most likely ignored it.

10. Yep, I'm a Draft Gore supporter!
...Or at least I was until he endorsed Dean. Then I was finally convinced that he wouldn't jump into the race, and I switched to the candidates already in there. But I would still much rather see President Gore running for re-election this time. :(

It boggles the mind when one attempts to comprehend how much better off the country would be if President Gore were in the White House rather than Gov. Bush. It's like trying to imagine the vastness of the universe. It just can't be done.

12. I'd like Gore simply so I could get a "Re-Elect Gore 2004" sticker...
Unfortunately, he ran such a bad campaign last time that I'd probably be worried about him doing the same this time.
