Edwards building momentum--Sentinel endoreses him!
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 03:03 PM by jmoss
Just as in Iowa, John Edwards is proving himself to be the most viable #2 Candidate. I urge all you undecideds to search yourself before just falling in line behind the front-runner!

Please see this text, taken from JRE's website:

:-) :-) :-)

Today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin's largest newspaper, endorsed Edwards, following his great debate performance on Sunday. This combination was a recipe for success inIowa, and you can help make it a turning point in Wisconsin, too.

In endorsing Edwards, the Journal Sentinel highlighted many characteristics we have known all along:

<<quote from Sentinel>>

" ...For Democrats, then, the challenge is to nominate the man who can take his party's common vision for the nation and convince voters that it offers the right course for America. That man, in our judgment, is Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina....."

The Journal Sentinel recognized that the Democratic nomination battle is now a two-man race and concludes that Edwards is the better candidate to take on Bush:

"...If Democrats are serious about winning in November, they have two choices at this point. John Kerry would make a strong run at President Bush and might defeat him. But we think John Edwards, with his combination of message and method, may have the stronger legs in this long distance race...."

Also, The Boston Globe had this to report of last night's debate:

"...Edwards, a first-term senator from North Carolina, used blunt language and an energetic stage presence to cast himself as the chief alternative to Kerry going into tomorrow's Wisconsin primary, where an expected Kerry victorymay knock Dean out of the race...."

2. Edmentum?
Maybe if Edwards gets within single digits of Kerry tomorow but most political experts think is pretty much wrapped up now.

3. Don't underestimate Dear John!
You said he's a viable #2 candidate... I say, he's a viable threat! Go EDWARDS! He needs more media attention (fair media attention.) I think he's a GREAT guy, and I would be not at all torn to pull the lever for him under any circumstance.

5. You're welcome
I've often said this about evangelicals...

"I love Jesus. It's His fan club that gets on my nerves."

Statement transferrable as it may apply, but certainly not all followers of our fine candidates.

8. That's 2 for 2 on the major WI newspapers
Add to the Sentinel endorsement the recent endorsement of the Madison newspaper (claiming Edwards as the most progressive democrat with a shot at the nomination), and we have some great local (Wisconsin) coverage.

Just like in Iowa, Edwards follows up very positive newspaper endorsements with a terrific debate performance!

Now is the time to make a move for Edwards. Not even a third of the votes have been cast in this Democratic nomination process, and JRE is fighting for every last vote! Don't let Kerry coast through the nomination process!

12. I wish him luck. He's a good candidate.
His position on labor is the closest to Dennis's.
