Are the final Maine results being held until after the WI primary?
I thought that the precinct results were due by 2/15, and yet everywhere they still only show 80% reporting.

2. this is so
yesterdays news, dude. It doesn't matter if the counting of Maine's largest city wasn't finished, when they declared Kerry the winnah. The world has moved on.

until yesterday. I'm sure if you ask them aobut it, they can let you know when the complete results will be available. That will probably be more productive than complaining about it on an Internet message board.

14. I'm glad
the secrecy around the Maine count doesn't trouble you, Freddie. I like my elections out in the air, where everyone can see the results, personally. I've never thought that keeping election results secret was a cornerstone of democracy.

Nice of you to assume I just sit around complaining though. Thanks!

They will get to the bottom of this. Personally, I think that old man Caruthers who owns the haunted amusement park may be behind this.

I think that is the one where a lady took the ballots home, left them on the table for her dog to guard them. LOL Is that any way to run a democracy?

Here is what is going on:

Results from 97% of towns has been tabualted. This is not reflected by the website becsue it has not done in-house. The person or company who is contracted to do this is not updating it when they are supposed to, the the party Chairwoman is not very happy with this.

They are still wiating for results for Aroostook County, which is very rural. Because this are is so sparsely populated, the results from there are not expected to change the results very much.

The current delegate percentages that will be going to the state convention are:

Kerry: 44%

Dean: 28%

Kucinich: 14%

Edwards: 8%

Clark: 4%

25. Another kick - you know what I think...
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 11:00 PM by nu_duer
I'll just say it. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, what the hell. I'll look a litte stupid or angry or desperate, but at least it won't be like I have been in charge of counting the votes in Maine or something.

I think this whole thing reeks, and there's only one reason for it.

I think the final numbers were known by the 9th at the latest, the computer failures and bla bla bla long now past relevance as valid excuses for this delay.

"More people voted than we expected..." Translation - "we can't count that high" - ???!!! Come on.

I think Dean did much better in the final numbers than the "machine" wants to let out just yet, for fear he'll sap some momentum from the anointed.

I believe the numbers were withheld purposely to achieve the effect of muting any Dean momentum, and padding Kerry's perceived momentum - in order to have VA and TN turn out as ordained, as well as NV and WI evidently.

That's what my gut tells me, anyway.

Imagine the whole thing in terms of Florida 2000, and katherine harris is telling you to be patient, and not to worry that the vote was over a week ago, 'cuz her "big yellow dog" was guarding the ballots on the kitchen table (yes, that really came out of Maine).

Damn, who needs rigged voting machines when this kind of thing is acceptable?

(hopefully, this'll keep this thread kicked for a while)

33. Yeah, Kucinich really got shafted.
Kucinich - the long shot - came in THIRD. But does he get any coverage he deserves on the major networks? Not even for a minute. The stories ran like this: "Kerry wins BIG BIG BIG 1st place!! Dean is FINISHED with a 2nd place!! And behind them, Kucinich-Edwards-Sharpton."

I only wish I was exaggerating.

It seems like his campaign would be raising hell to get those final results.

41. Well now,
they wouldn't want Dean and Kucinich to look better than Edwards now, would they? If Maine shows Dean in 2nd, Kucinich in 3rd and Edwards in 4th....wouldn't look good for John E. They need to make sure it doesn't hit the air waves until AFTER the Wisconsin Primary is over. Wouldn't want to give the Dean and Kucinich supporters any hope. :eyes:
