Warrantless Wiretaps????
What in the hell were our leaders THINKING in allowing, not only BUSH, but for pete's sake, ALBERTO GONZALES to decide WHO deserves WARRANTLESS WIRETAPS???

This is BY FAR the BIGGEST of a growing list of COP-OUTS by our Democratic Leadership, since taking "control", (and I use THAT term VERY loosely), this past January!!

Let's SCREAM AND SHOUT about how the Bush Administration is the best since the THIRD REICH in consolodating power, and then have to watch OUR OWN PARTY become the 21st century's version of Germany's opposition parties of the 1930's!!

Those in the middle and independents are going to bail on us next year....and we are going to lose control of Congress, and with that may be unable to regain the White House, all because of the spineless actions...or inactions...of our leadership!

No coup needs guns if the power is handed over without a fight! Way to go leaders!!!

1. I read a blog post re: confronting Sen. Nelson on this... and here's what I learned.
Sen. Nelson trusts National Director of Intelligence Mike McConnell not to lie to Congress. Doesn't trust Gonzales at all, but does trust McConnell... completely.

And on this basis he supported the bill.

I'm sorry. The fish rots from the head down, and McConnell has the same boss as Gonzales, and the boss sets the rules. Including what can and cannot be revealed to Congress because... it's a secret.

7. Cave-in apologists now turn the language into some Orwellian lexicon
Criticizing another Democratic surrender to Bush is now labeled as being Republican or Freepish. Next month we will be called traitors and terrorism supporters for daring to support the moribund Constitution.

Freedom is slavery!

8. I guess the relentless attacks on the Democrats, when a minority voted for this bill, are beginning
to sound redundant, to me.

The MAJORITY of Republican voted for this, yet get a free pass here.

Orwellian, indeed, MKJ

They don't want to get the Cheney angry.

6. A couple of things
I have never seen a Democrat that was a Cowboy fan, not that it is impossible, just must be what Rednecks felt the first time they say Charlie Pride singing C&W.

Also I agree with you. Indefensible, they never should have caved and if that meant staying in DC for the month so be it.

Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 11:52 AM by Zodiak Ironfist
EVERY North Texan is a Cowboy fan, and a lot of us are Democrats.

Think Jim Hightower and you have a good stereotype of a Democrtic Texan. We were the majority before Reagan.
