Now is the time to find out who started the intern story.
It could cripple any further sliming of Kerry.

2. Whoever started this should be held accountable.
If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts he shall end in certainties.

3. Wanna bet?
Kerry's gonna be slimed from now till November, unless he doesn't get the nomination.

No lie will be too low, and they'll throw tons of shit, hoping something will stick. That's just the way it works.

Besides, we still don't know who Deep Throat was, or who outed Plame. How the hell are we going to find out who spilled to Drudge?

8. That's exactly right
It will go on and on and on. Probably on both sides. It will be one mean campaign. I also agree that it's really not worth it to even try to find out the Drudge source. Talk about a drain on resources and brain power!

5. maybe it was no one source.
It might be too far flung and decentralized to pinpoint.

7. I'm more concerned about Democrats who ate it like it was candy
and ran with it.

11. Exactly!
I guarantee that there are people right here at DU who are disappointed that this rumor is turning out to be bullshit.

13. That's the part of this that troubles me the most, too...
Anti-Kerry Dems were drunk with glee when Drudge posted it, without recognizing that such a salacious rumor hurts EVERY Dem, not just Kerry. Any Dem who reveled in the scandal clearly is an amateur politico...

:eyes: <-this eyerolls for you, Fair-weather Dems...

9. Good luck!
I hope some enterprising sleuths try it, but the tentacles of this story seem mighty complicated to me.

All kinds of characters were involved, and I don't think we'll never know ultimately who pushed it.

10. Any chance to put the fear of God into the Republican slime machine
would be well worth the effort. Drudge has been caught in a bald-faced
lie. I have no doubt it "appeared" when it did to distract from the Bush
National Guard questions.
