Unlike you, some of us are very aware of the significant difference.

34. lol Slamming? Not me. Perhaps it's you that should just be quiet?
slam
v (past and past participle slammed, present participle slam·ming, 3rd person present singular slams)
1. vti close forcefully: to close something forcefully and noisily, or be closed in this way
2. vti put something down violently: to put something down violently and noisily, or be put down in this way
3. vti hit something violently: to hit something with sudden or violent force
The waves slammed into the dock.

4. vt criticize somebody or something: to criticize somebody or something forcefully (informal)
The press slammed the President's performance.

5. vt U.S. telecommunications change somebody's phone service: to change the telephone service provider of a customer without his or her consent or authorization (informal)

n (plural slams)
1. impact: a heavy, noisy, or violent blow or impact
2. criticism: a forceful piece of criticism or critical remark

37. Seems to me
that you are advocating we not critically examine our candidates because it is in bad form and we should just support them without thinking or discussing because they are "ours" and that is good enough so just be quiet? What you said to BC was no more than most of what most of us say that pisses you off. You want me to be quiet? Ha Ha, that is priceless. I don't believe I ever suggested that anyone be quiet just that they apply their own rules to themselves. We are all free to say what we need to say and disagree. This kind of thread suggests that is not so.

vt criticize somebody or something: to criticize somebody or something forcefully (informal)

criticism: a forceful piece of criticism or critical remark

Both of these definitions are under slamming. There is nothing wrong with either of those when choosing people who will impact your life significantly. So I would say that slamming is fair when in this position if it is nothing more than " a forceful piece of criticism or critical remark". Seems fair to me. After all, it is all about learning the most about who is running in order to make a choice. There are posts that are needlessly nasty but that is what you get on a forum like this and if it really upsets you then maybe you need to use the ignore button and spare yourself the grief.

Perhaps all you BPL's should make a book of rules for the rest of us. It would be good to know when my personal thoughts and questions interfere with your agenda. Not that that would stop me but it would be nice to know what the new rules are. The old one's are apparently not acceptable these days.

39. Oh brother.
Your problem is that you cannot see the difference between "critically examine our candidates" and "slamming them".

I believe all candidates would welcome constructive criticism.

Enough said. I will just ignore the rest of your groundless emotional tirade.

Be well.

41. Perhaps you should just put me on ignore.
I know I have far better things to do than to continue arguing with the loyalty crowd. Nothing makes me angrier than someone trying to shut others up. Don't like what we say? Then use that button or learn that what you call slamming I call sucking up. We are all different so get over it. You have not even seen slamming yet, just wait until we get closer to the primaries. You will not see slamming from me, those days are over but I will forever be critical of policy, even of someone I support. If that is slamming to you use the button. K?

That is anyone's definition of being universally supportive.

You really should be prepared if you are going to display over-the-top, in-your-face bullshit.

"Say good things about all" does not mean you have to say good things about each of them- - just not slam anyone.

I think the OP was clear. Let's not go playing with the words, OK?

35. I am not playing with words, and I will NOT say good things about all candidates. Period.
We have Democratic candidates in this field who worry only about getting elected and have shown a stunningly easy willingness to reverse their passionate feelings about progressive issues simply to appease the moderate right. I will not tolerate or forgive that.

That said, I do not engage in random slamming of candidates who are not my number one or number two choices. Hells bells, I seldom discuss the candidates at all at this point. That will change in November of this year.

None of them has any faults or any ideas or policies that might harm our way of life or move the party farther to the right. We should not argue, we should accept that they know best, we should swallow what they feed us and never, ever think for ourselves or the "enemy" might win. Every person with a D after their name is a good guy with a white hat so STFU and eat your spinach. :eyes:

17. Thanks.
I don't need to re read it, this kind of mindless post with mindless ideas has been around since time began. Knocking others? Do you mean things like...she has big ears? If you mean policy debates then I think maybe YOU, not me, belong on a "repuke blog" as you mentioned before.

I have a brain and a very good one at that and I intend to use it and nobody, nobody will ever convince me that swallowing the swill that someone else hands to me is the way to make anything better and believe me when I say that there are a lot of us who are getting real tired of the swill that is being handed to us by "our" party.

But then I disagree so that makes me the person that put Bush* in office and a Republican? Wow, just wow. The powers of critical thinking. Again...:eyes:

do not believe in just accepting crap and not discussing or challenging it. We should challenge, we have already seen what can happen when you just accept what you are told.

I think the Dem's caving on this last vote has been the thing that has topped and pissed me off the most. There is absolutely no excuse for giving Bush and Gonzo what they just gave them.

Such bullshit beyond belief.

10. Why do we have to say good things about 'bad' people?
If I can get rounded up by the CIA at any time during the day, and being transported to a secret prison and being accused of terrorism without any chance to prove it's not true, and I'm being tortured... all because it's LEGAL for Bush to do under the Military Commissions Act, which HRC voted for... then why can't I say HRC is a bad choice?

YOU DON'T,but neither do you have to run another mans choice down; to divide and lose has been a fault of this party. and I agree with you THAT YOUR CHOICE SHOULD BE YOUR DECISION.
But bickering allows those from the opposition to come in here and decieve you.
for instance in my state a right wing host of air waves does this along with his buddies.
