2. She just joked that she has only been married to him for 8 and 1/2 yrs
and anything he did prior to that she has no interest in.

The crowd roared with laughter. NOW she is discussing his wonderful characteristics, including protesting Vietnam, that she admires.

7. Yes.
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 12:33 PM by jchild
I have seen her at numerous televised events...she is always soft-spoken...it's her Euro-South African enculturation, I think. We aren't used to seeing that.

She is so different from Gert Clark, whose southern style contrasts sharply to Teresa's style. As First Ladies, they will compliment each other, I believe.

Edited to add that I have also seen her fired up, but it is still in a way of words and not mannerism. I heard her say, at some event (don't remember when--it was prior to Kerry announcing for president) that she would not put up with that "shit." But she said it in a low-key way. Still water runs deep, very deep.

23. Gert Clark's southern style comes from the Big Apple
She was a NYC girl when he married her and you can hear the Brooklyn Bridge in her accent. She's got a lot of class and has picked up a few southern lady habits, but she's tough like a New Yorker as well as 100% class.

26. She is an honorary Steel Magnolia
Southern women are tough and classy at the same time. She probably felt right at home in Arkansas.

The best defense is a good offense. Don't give the pukes fire by addressing the situation anymore. Just put out the fire with a sweet, sweet salve. This woman is remarkably well spoken, dignified, and gracious.

And Kennedy is kicking some ass!

29. Anyone listening to her as she works the crowds?
I love this woman! She is fabulous! She said that she plans to continue her current work and that most women in the US would expect her to, that politics is not her interest, her institute is.

32. She has her heart into each conversation...
she isn't rushing through, she actually spends a moment talking and listening to each person. You get the feeling she really cares.

35. Absolutely
She is connecting with everyone she talks to. She isn't rushing, or being rushed by her aides. I noticed the same thing about Clark when I met him... his people tried to press him through the crowds, but he wouldn't be rushed away from the people. It is that quality that I found so genuine, and one I'm seeing in Teresa right now.

The Catsup Queen has my heart.

She seems very real. Unfortunately I like her more than her husband. Go easy, I am warming up to Kerry. Slowly, but surely.

36. Hey, ME too!
I'm still trying to warm up to Kerry... I got a big push (and changed my avatar) after I saw his Valentine's Day message to GWB. It kicked ass, and I thought..."hey... this guy isn't taking any shit."

But yeah, Teresa is definitely a compliment to her husband... I would wager to say, his better half.

I could listen to her for hours.

She's such a down-to-earth woman and gets along with people really well.

Ask her about her grandchild and see her face light up. :)
