Talk show host Tom Snyder dies at 71
Talk show host Tom Snyder, whose smoke-filled interviews were a staple of late night television, has died after a struggle with leukemia. He was 71.

Snyder died Sunday in San Francisco from complications associated with leukemia, said his longtime producer and friend Mike Horowicz.

Known for his improvised, casual style and robust laughter, Snyder conducted a number of memorable interviews as host of NBC’s “The Tomorrow Show.” Among his guests were John Lennon, Charles Manson and Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols.

That really really sucks. He was a funny guy and a great talker. RIP, sir.

ON EDIT: here's an interview he did with Jerry Garcia and Ken Kesey from 1981.

2. What a damn shame.
His show was groundbreaking in so many ways. He introduced so many bands to the nation, bands who would never gotten on TV if he hadn't brought them on. He had some great interviews as well. And a conscience.

So many of the squawking heads today are such inconsequential midgets in comparison.

Tom was a class act. The world is a sadder place today.

4. I actually found a couple of "Tomorrow Shows" recently ....
with Don Rickels (on a beta tape) and Paul McCartney interview ... pretty interesting stuff. I wasn't a fan of his as a kid because the few shows I did tune in on seemed so ... sleazy. However, I did like the interviews with Rickels and McCartney.

I know a TV researcher who was in touch with him; he said Snyder was great and always answered his emails, but that lately he wasn't replying to them and he suspected that he was ill ... RIP, Tom
