Gloria Borger all bug-eyed: "But Why-y-y-y-y would he lie?!"
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 04:17 AM by homelandpunk
She asked Kucinich if he thought Bush lied about Iraq, and she did that faux "I'm outraged that I even have to ask this question" look, deluding herself into thinking that the WAY she asked, combined with the "How could you?!" look of indignant outrage, that THAT would just make Kucinich crumble and fall into line with her Bush worship.
(Let me just go off on something here: Gloria, just because you and your fellow "journalists" tucked your tails between your legs whenever Bush and Rove early on gave you THE LOOK when an off limits question was asked, and you all actually trembled at the simian glare, doesn't mean a guy with balls is going to react the same way to you when you do it to him. The fact that you reporters flinched and winced from the goofy glare of a Moron, and have since "shaped up" just from the threat of bully eye contact, thus earning your precious puppy-dog nicknames from your master, is proof of what cowardly whores you all are.) Anyway, Kucinich knocked it out of the park, Gloria follows up even more bug-eyed, "so you ARE saying he lied?!" and Kucinich says "yes, he lied", which leads the next questioner on the panel to ask the same of Sharpton, and Sharpton said the words Bush, lie, lies, and liar so many times, I was roaring. Between Kucinich and Sharpton, that was the best 5 minutes of TV since the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan. Between that and Ritter giving Miller the red-ass, it was a fine night on the tube.

2. I loved that exchange.
I was so excited that Dennis said bush* lied, and then Sharpton. He had me howling, too. Yes, he lied, and he knew he lied, and if he didn't know he lied, that's a bigger problem.

3. Gloria Borger is one of the biggest whores on the tube
Everything about her, from what she says to the way she says it is so high school lunchtable that I can't stand to listen to her. It's all 'conventional wisdom' that comes out as gossip from her. She never has so much as a hint of insight or creativity about whatever the topic.

You describe her performance perfectly, and I agree how wonderful it was that Sharpton especially, and Kucinich too stood up to her Bush-loving question and tone.

It was fantastic, but what I REALLY wanted to hear when Lester Holt did his pathetic turn at indignance over criticism of Bush lying: "... and why would he lie?" was one of the candidates stuffing it right back in the media's face: "Bush lies because he knows that you in the media won't question even his most blatant lies, even if it costs scores of American lives."

You'd think that one of the 'message' candidates in the primaries could afford to slam the media.

4. It WAS a beautiful moment.
Damn, I love that Dennis guy. He's really saying what we feel, and he does it so well.

Got a lot of applause tonight, too - far more than anyone, save Sharpton after that great bit about b*sh's lies!

and will it be repeated? My wife forced me to stay away from all that was political yesterday because she saw that I have been so depressed, but now I'm really in need of my fix!

6. MSNBC
It was rerun later in the evening, but I've noticed other debates being rerun on public stations the next day, or even two days later.

7. I hope Kucinich and Sharpton stick it out until the bitter end
They say whatever the hell they want, most often benefiting the anyone-but-Bush movement. I liked they way Edwards couldn't stop laughing during Sharpton's liar rant. Then Sharpton ends with something like, "I don't know why he lied, but let's give him the rest of his retirement to figure it out and tell us."
