Bible prophet's tomb destroyed in Iraq?
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 07:12 PM by antiimperialist
I didn't post this in Latest Breaking News because the only source I have is a Spanish-language newspaper article claiming that Daniel's tomb was destroyed, and a Reuters article of what appears to be the same incident, without the Daniel tomb reference. (See NEAR TUZ KHUMARTU.)
The Spanish article cites Touz as the site of the gunbattle, while Reuters cites "Tuz".

NEAR TUZ KHURMATO - Gunmen killed eight people and wounded two others on Saturday in a drive-by shooting in a Turkman village near the town of Tuz Khurmato, about 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

1. Here's another article, in English
Tomb of Daniel destroyed, 5 dead, over 13 abducted in Iraq (Extra)

Baghdad - The tomb of the prophet Daniel was destroyed Sunday in Baquba, the provincial capital of Diyala, a police source told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

'Unidentified individuals planted a load of high explosives around the tomb of the prophet Daniel in al-Wajihiya area, thus destroying it completely and razing it to the ground,' the source said.

I do not know how reliable these stories are, because according to the Wikki, Daniel' Tomb is located in Kirkuk, which is in Northern Iraq, not Baquba, which is in Central Iraq.

There's another story about the Lion of Babylon beeing destroyed, which is in Basra, which is in Southern Iraq
