If they don't get the nomination of course....

Who would be the better choice?

1. LaRouche.
Why not, oh, yeah, he's crazy.

Seriously, why not Sharpton or Kucinich????

3. Bill Clinton
yes, he is a most wonderful speaker, but he'd have to beat this:

I think he can, that would be awsome.

4. I would love to see Clinton
But I think that it's too loaded with political stickiness.

They'll pick someone safer, perhaps Gore...

5. Bill might speak, but the keynote position has traditionally
been reserved for an up-and-comer in the party.

Might be just the spot for Edwards and then have him nominated for VP by acclamation.

He has developed an awesome stump speech now.

On the other hand, it was Dean who first defined this race as a referendum on Bush.

It's a tough choice.

Both will get to speak I think though...

6. Mario Cuomo's key note speech in '84...
...was a great speech. It didn't get anyone elected but it was a great speech. This year the key note address needs to be a barn burner...Edwards might be good, but it can't be his usual 'summation' speech...I hope, whoever gets the call does a slam bang job.

7. Debbie Stabenow, the senator from Michigan. She's an up and comer.

9. I Want Clark
But, if not Clark, then please let Dennis give one of his wonderful speeches. I wonder how many people have not heard one of those unbelievable speeches. Think he should let Clay Aiken sing, though. LOL. Not that Dennis doesn't have a good voice, just don't like mixing speeches with music.

12. John Edwards, because hard truths sound
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 05:21 AM by DemBones DemBones
better when delivered with a Southern accent.

I'm serious -- I think his voice falls easier on Midwestern and Southern ears than Dennis's or Dean's.

I think Dennis is a wonderful candidate -- and I still want him to be our next president -- but I can hear what people call "shrill" in his voice at times. He should speak, but not be the keynote speaker, and the same goes for Howard Dean. Dean's energizing of the campaign should be acknowledged, but we need a keynote that sounds smooth and fires people up, without pissing too many off.

Added on Edit: I heard only the last 30 minutes of last night's debate, but they all sounded great! I was proud of my fellow Democrats.

I'm not sure Kucinich or Dean can sound as smooth giving a keynote speech, though.

Edwards has never sounded abrasive to me.
