Alex Polier should come out NOW and repudiate this BS!
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 12:38 AM by mot78
If she wants to save her dignity, she should come out immediately and tell the public what really happened. That way we won't have this blow up in our faces if Kerry gets nominated.

1. Unless it's true...
That's the only reason I see her not saying anything.

There's a chance it might be true...I hope not, but you never can tell.

If I were her and I did have an affair with Kerry, I'd shut the hell up too and stay as far away from the American press as possible. Like Kenya, Africa!

3. Since a second Bush term might hinge on the truth, you'd think she'd
feel compelled to speak up.

Of course, if it's true, what's going through the minds of everyone who knows it's true is who they told the truth to. That's the only calculus they're doing. Can someone credible confirm the truth, or challenge them if they lie.

16. If it's true...
and she has half a brain, she would make a tape and make sure the existence of such tape is leaked to insure against airplane crashes or suicides or any such untimely demise, then enter a "witness protection program" half way around the world.

2. "Save her dignity"?
Why is the burden always placed on the woman?

The only dignity at stake here is Kerry's if there is any shred of truth to what is being reported overseas.

4. Supposedly, Alex Polier gave a confessional interview about the story
before she fled the country. This has been reported overseas. Time will tell on that one.

5. Look, I Don't Want To Buy Into This Rumor But...
if a tape recorded interview with this woman comes out and she says that she had an affair with John Kerry it really will doom his chances. Think about what the media coverage is going to be like if her voice can be played on the nightly news saying she slept with Kerry when he was married after he has denied that it happened. It won't be pretty.

And the more time passes without some kind of a comment emerging (besides her father calling Kerry a sleazeball - what's that about?) it makes me more nervous to give the party over to this guy.

11. It was in the Sun (Murdoch Tabloid)
and, conveniently, there were no details about what was said in this "confessional interview" supposedly taped in December but being held by the TV station until details could be confirmed. No mention of who did the interview either. For a tabloid, the Sun appears to be doing a good job of covering their ass. If nothing comes of the story they will just say the details could not be confirmed so the tape wasn't aired. Since they don't say who did the interview, it is impossible to confirm if anything was taped. Nice, huh?

17. i have a stupid question
how, pray tell, are they going to 'confirm' the details of an affair? when someone shows up with a blue dress let me know, until then Kerry's emphatic denial in Wisconsin should be good enough for all of us.

6. I wouldn't if I were her.
I'd tell people to fuck off and stay out of my underwear. A denial even from her is STILL not going to satisfy those who WANT it to be true. A denial even from her is STILL not going to satisfy those who think their candidate would BENEFIT from a Kerry assassination scandal.

There is nothing but rumor and innuendo, and known liars from right wing shit sources holding this story up. Nothing to substantiate it at all. I don't even believe an interview took place. If there were an interview and a tape there is no reason they would be sitting on it.

I could start my own website tomorrow and start a rumor that Kucinich likes to fuck small animals. And I also have film of this. I could start a few posts in GD Primary with this mysterious source and link and innocently pose this as potential trouble for the Kooch. I'll forward it to all the mainstream news sources, but of course they won't touch it because they can't confirm it and I won't hand over the film of him performing these acts.

Do you seriously think Kucinich should address this vicious unsubstantiated nonsense? I don't.

18. I just wanted to say, as a Dean supporter
I do *not* wish for this rumor to be true or to hurt Kerry in any way. I have my reservations about Kerry, but that is because of issues. This rumor, if true, hurts the entire party - not just Kerry.

If it is true (which I doubt) and destined to come out anyway though, I hope it comes out soon - better now than in October or so.

19. Understood and appreciated
And I don't believe all non-Kerry supporters want to believe this. I truly believe it is a small, but VOCAL minority.

I, too, believe this would hurt not only Kerry but the entire Party if it were true. That's why, taking ALL facts into consideration I don't believe it is true.

First of all, as you point out, if it WERE true, it is destined to come out. I don't believe Kerry would categorically deny it if it were true. ESPECIALLY if there were supposedly a tape out there of her "confessing" this affair. I don't believe such a tape exists. There is no reason they would be sitting on such a bombshell since Christmas if it really existed.

There is NO WAY Kerry would set himself, the Democratic Party, or his supporters, up like that for such a devastating humiliation. I just don't believe ANY of the candidates would categorically deny the charges, KNOWING that it would come out later, and that a scandal would befall us eventually. NONE of the candidates would do that.

If it did, I would be livid. But at the same time, I felt during the Clinton scandal that too much time was spent investigating his crotch. But I'd still be angry. I don't want to go through THAT shit again.

8. One of her classmates is casting doubt on the story
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,8693388%255E2703,00.html

Lets see -
She had a boyfriend and was studying up to 80 hrs/week
She was at Columbia School of Journalism (Isn't that in New Your City?)

So she is supposedly carrying on a long distance affair with a U.S. Senator and none of her classmates (Journalism students!!!!) is the wiser, including her journalist boyfriend (presumably the fiance in Kenya).

Something smells and it ain't the fish.

13. not that difficult
seeing as how her fiance was living over in Israel, I'd say it might have been a little difficult for him to keep track of what she was doing all the way over in NYC.

14. The classmate claims she was dating another student
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 01:41 AM by yellowcanine
While she was supposedly larking with JFK. So this boyfriend was there - whether or not he is the fiance and when he went to Israel I don't know. The only thing I saw on Israel is she was honeymooning there - that is another thing about this story, if they were on their honeymoon in Israel, he is her husband, not her fiance. And also if she went on a honeymoon to Israel and then to Kenya, how is it that she "fled" to Kenya at the urging of Kerry? The "interview", the honeymoon, and the flight to Kenya are all happening within a couple of months. And who gives a "tell all" interview and then leaves the country at the request of the person you are ratting out?Lots of loose ends to this one.

10. Kerry: I'm not worried about claims of affair (The Mirror)
The Mirror is a liberal tabloid in England. Tabloid refers to the format more than it does to content as it does in America.

The point is that the British press is pursuing the story and if there is any substance to it, they will pounce on it. So far, they haven't.

BRING IT ON Feb 14 2004

Kerry: I'm not worried about claims of affair

From Anthony Harwood, US Editor

PRESIDENTAL hopeful John Kerry yesterday rubbished claims he had an affair with an intern - and vowed to "fight back" against smears.

And he accused the Bush campaign of doing "anything" it could to deflect from the president's poor showing in the polls.

Kerry, 60, was accused on a right-wing website of a relationship with journalist Alex Polier.

There is no evidence they had an affair but her father, Terry, 56, has branded Kerry, dubbed the new JFK, a "sleazeball".

21. Why? So she can get attacked by the media?
I completely understand why, whether it's true or not, she doesn't want to make this a public spectacle. If she does speak out, she'll be hounded to death by the rabid media.

Yeah, just what I'd want - the media camped on my lawn every day until the next OJ or Scott Peterson does something to distract them.
