I don't think blue-blood marriages are the same as you or I. I think they go by the old ways of forging family alliances and increasing wealth and prestige.

George's wife was "selected" for him because she was deemed to be a good political wife. I'm pretty sure that Kerry married Theresa because she's fucking loaded. It's a political/social marriage system. I don't think that love and fidelity necessarily apply.

In other words, I think women in her position ASSUME that their husbands have lovers. As long as they're #1 at home, it's OK by them.

Personally, I find the idea that a Senator's widow would marry ANOTHER Senator (another Bonesman) downright tacky.
