Nationwide poll: Giuliani ahead of Clinton. Obama leads Giuliani by wide margin
The latest nation-wide poll to be released (George Washington University Battleground poll), conducted July 15-18, has found that Rudy Giuliani does well in a hypothetical matchup against Hillary Clinton, leading her 50%-44%, while losing to Barack Obama 52%-43%.

It is worth noting that recent polls differ in their results, with a Fox News conducted at roughly the same time as this one showing Hil over Rudy by 5%, and Obama up by 4%.

I'm refraining from reaching any conclusions, due to this disagreement between polls.

1. Giuliani will never be nominated.
He's running to sell books and up his speaking fees.

3. Interesting....
A couple weeks old, and as you point out has been contradicted by several polls taken since. Never have seen a poll form GW before...pollster.com does not reference it that I can see...

If it is at all accurate it should be confirmed in later polls, which so far it hasn't...

Thanks for posting it though!

4. This is important to me so I watch these infrequent national polls withinterest.
Right now I am pretty much decided to vote for whichever candidate can WIN, within the boundaries of competency and Democratic party values and policy stands. If Hillary's polls nationwide (not just within the party) show her leading any Republican that is in or about to be in the race, then I will vote for her, primary and general. If she can't do it, but Obama can, I will vote for him, primary and general.

That said, I also want to see a competently run campaign in the primary. A candidate can have the greatest ideas on the earth, but they are no good if her/his organization can't hack it against the Republicans. We know the press won't be our best friend. We know the Republicans will be out smearing our candidate with Swift Boat type campaigns. We know that we had better have SOMETHING to defend us against wholesale tossing of our votes by local Republican officials. So we're already up against a LOT.

Is this asking too much?

10. Well, since the likely voters must be a subset of registered voters
I would say we're doing pretty well against Rudy, perhaps the best known of the leading repub. candidates.

Of course, the repubs will not nominate him but I don't see any of their candidates doing diddly, outside of the 25% lunatics who are going down in the bunker.
